[2/11/15] Cask at Toronado in San Francisco. Clear amber. Aroma of herbal and “green” hops and some mild maltiness. Flavor has some malty backbone and nice aggressively bitter hops. Medium-bodied.

On draught. Pours copper with clearness and white head. Lots of malt and earthy hops on both flavor and aroma.

A pleasant offering, a bit of a surprise from this brewery (which I think of as specializing in lagers). Pours cloudy orange, fluffy persistent white head. Definitely more of a floral (as opposed to citrus) IPA, both on the nose and palate. Very dry finish. Not bad, but not notable either.

Cask @ Toronado, SF. Yellow amber, fine white 1cm head. Smooth and tasty. Caramel fades, huge green hops. Big taste, with modest ABV. Nice.

"i wasn’t too impressed with this one at all in the midst of a good IPA line-up. the thick head and lacing stayed put, so the look was intruiging, but it was pretty one dimensional, like a decent homebrew, had a weakish hop aroma (especially comparatively) and was slightly bitter."

Cask. Moderate roasted grain and caramel for the malt, moderate to heavy grapefruit for the hops, light soap for the yeast, with dried fruit in the background. Head is average size, frothy/creamy, white with excellent crusty lacing and is fully lasting. Color is clear amber. Flavor starts lightly sweet and acidic, then finishes lightly acidic with a lengthy heavy bitterness. Palate is medium, oily with a soft carbonation and has a very dry finish. The hand drawn aspect of this IPA really did put it over the top.

Draft @ Toroando, SF. Was it fair that I sampled a Fresh Squeezed right before this? No, it was not. This beer has a weak herbal hop note and lots of caramel/ sweet malt. Reminds me of a English IPA or bitter. The malt is the main character and really not much in the way of bitterness or real hop flavors. Overly sweet, tastes like an old American Pale ale that has sat around to long. I will not remember this.

Draft at Flavor. Draft at some place that ran out of malt liquor drafts. Nose is very floral with a light lemon citrus character. Taste is immediately bitter with a pithy character. Unpleasantly sharp. Too much bad bitterness

On tap in Santa Rosa. Slightly hazy golden with a foamy, off white head. Aroma is very floral and soapy. Harshly bitter flavor, again that is very soapy. Some slight citrus. Green hops. Eh. I really didn’t like this one.

On tap. Pale golden pour, small white head. Malty nose, notes of citrus. Mainly malty taste. On the light side of IPA’s, not a favourite. Medium body, average carbonation.
