Hop resin in a glass finding balance with malt to waltz on tongue’s delight. Man Iove this! marcus (988), Sacramento, California, USA Jul 7, 2005 On tap at Toronado. This one poured with a short off-white head, with a malty aroma. The flavor was a nice blend of hops and malt, starting sweet but with a fairly bitter finish. aspidites (1268), manteca, California, USA Mar 10, 2005 Updated: Sep 2, 2008 Big hop nose "Hey I might be able to smoke this" quality. Very resinous and oily palate with good fruit and nuts malt. some residual sweetness but huge hop finish that lingers and lingers. beerguy101 (3478), Newark, California, USA Feb 21, 2005 Tasted at the 5th Annual Bistro 2XIPA Fest. Orange gold color. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is malty. Sweet and floral. A medium bodied Imperial IPA. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are grapefruit and citrus. Nice balance, hoppy but a nice maltyness to it as well. Medium bitter 2X IPA. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. jazz88 (2205), San Francisco, California, USA Feb 6, 2005 Updated: Jul 30, 2005Rating #1 Tap @ Toronado (6 3 7 3 16). A golden amber color with a laced off-white head. A good strong ale with wood, plenty of hops and a bitter aftertaste. Actually fairly well balanced with a lingering malt base. Rating #2 Tap @ Toronado (7 3 6 3 16). A foamy white head on a dark golden colored beer. Rather dry and quick finishing (clean and crisp) with a grassy hop aftertaste. There is a subtle complexity, but I was disapointed in how light this beer was compard to others in the style.
