Enticing, complex blend of blueberries, black cherries and blackcurrants balanced with basic elements of mead; honey, water. The mead that started Moonlight Meadery, Desire is a must with cheeses, Italian dishes, rich saucy meat dishes, or with Belgian chocolates. 73% honey, 9% black currant, 9% cherry, 9% blueberry.

A dark dark purple pour. Big black currant aroma with blackberries. Tart full of that big berry flavor. A little thin. Nice honey sweetness. Still good stuff.

Moonlight. Lots of dark berries. Black currant and cherry. Mild booze, especially for how high the abv. Mild mead honey and some alcohol on the back end but still really hides it well.

500 ml bottle picked up months ago at my local Market Basket. Purple lightly hazy color. Aroma is a blend of mixed berries that reminds me most of blackberry.

. The mouthfeel has a berry sweetness with a mixture of cherry, blackberry and blueberry. The berries run together as I sip. The ABV is covered with the honey hardly noticeable but provides a slight warming after a few ounces. The berries dominate this honey wine. Real easy to sip, enjoyable.

Dark brown/red color. Deep aroma of black currants, flowery, perfumy. Quite sweet, but the acidity and alcohol balance it; nice currants and berries flavor, with pleasant ending astringency. This one brings me back to some good German mead.

Bottle, courtesy of fiulijn (thanks Alex), pours a dark purple-ish red with no head. Nose brings out loads of dark berries, with medium honey sweetness and even a touch of pith from the berries. Flavour is lovely and very complex, with loads of blueberries above all along with the other berries, medium sweetness, and just a touch of honey. Complex, elegant, and perfectly balanced. Wonderful stuff.

Older bottle from the basement, I believe from 2010. Reddish amber color with a smattering of bubbles on the top. Rich sweet honey and dark fruit notes on the nose with a hint of caramel, alcohol, and light sherry notes. The flavor is fruity honey with a hint of apple and again light sherry. I think its better fresh, I’m a big fan of this mead, but its interesting how the flavors have evolved over the last few years.

Bottle thanks to WillRunForBeer. Deep dark red pour with no head. Aroma is like blueberry and black currant juice. Tastes the same. Sugary sweet and very fruity. Thin to medium body. Solid mead but the rich honey doesn’t come through at all. The abv is incredibly well hidden though. This stuff could be very dangerous.

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate-heavy honey, cherries...and I suppose blueberries if you tell me they are there. It pours a very dark red with a a few stray pink bubbles for a head. It doesn’t stick to the glass all that much. The flavor starts with moderate-heavy sweet cherries. Again, I guess there’s blueberries too if you tell me they are there. The finish has moderate honey and light apple. It’s medium-full bodied with minimal carbonation and a slightly sticky mouthfeel.
