A sample at the Julios meadfest, not too much vanilla on this one. Apple is dominant

Sample from bottle @ GABS 2016, Melbourne Pale straw sort of thing, no head. Heady aroma of pretty much Apple Pie - cinnamon, shortcrust, vanilla, stewed apple, touch of neutral sort of honey. Rather thick, liqueur-like, subtle warming Tremendously persistent on the palate - liquid apple pie it must be said - sweet without being cloying. Such a joy of a drink!

Pours a pale golden color. Smells like watered down vanilla with some faint spice and a strong honeycomb component. Hides alcohol well.

3/8/16. Bottle from Five Points, shared with Mrs. Owlís family. Golden pour. Light aroma, sweet honey, mild apple, cinnamon. Sweet flavor, mostly just honey and sweet mead, mild apple, just barely hints at cinnamon and vanilla. Didnít strike me as very apple pie-like. Was hoping for more of that, but otherwise an okay sweet mead.

Bottle from Perrys. It pours a still yellow color. The aroma is nice cinnamon and apple with some white wine-like acidity and alcohol. The flavor is sweet and apply with more of the smooth vinous alcohol. The honey is really only tasted in the sweetness. The body is full and oily with most of the flavors disappearing quickly in the finish. Pleasant and tasty but ultimately a bit disappointing.

On draught, mead on draught of all damn things....
Pours a pale yellow, and quite obviously still.

The aroma is plenty of honey and some rich apple character. Itís got a nice cinnamon character and itís got a good bit of sweetness all round. Vanilla comes out to play in a sort of back place way to the apple and the cinnamon.

The flavor is pretty sweet but itís got a good apple flavor and itís got some very tasty cinnamon flavor. The vanilla is less apparent in the flavor than it is in the aroma but itís noticeable for sure. The alcohol is nicely concealed for something this strong but does provide for "warming" moments which works just right with a flavor profile like this.

brilliant in small doses!

375 ml bottle purchased at Holiday Wine Cellar about 15 months ago ($15.99). Pours a clear yellow/golden apple juice color with no head to speak of. AROMA of warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream, tart green apples, definite cinnamon, and light honey. FLAVOR of semi-sweet honey-covered baked cinnamon apples, Calvados, creamy high-end vanilla, and an extra dash of cinnamon. Nicely balanced between the apples / honey / spices...nice that they restrain the sweetness here. Surprisingly light in body and mouthfeel and jides the almost 17% ABV really well (just a little burning cinnamon sensation down the gullet)...all this equals a dangerously and deliciously quaffable beverage experience. Excellent stuff. (96, 996)

Bottle shared thanks to beerman6686. Pours a clear yellow color like apple juice. Aromas of ripe apples, vanilla, light cinnamon. Taste is sweet with only a slight hint of the large amount of alcohol present.

Poured a bright golden color. Still. Aroma was of apple pie spices, ho ey and caramel. Flavor similar, not nearly as apple pie forward as b nektar, but in a good way and still tastes like a great mead.
