Bottle shared by Michael Fairbrother. I’m including the Heather as a secondary rating as it hasn’t been released to date. Wildflower-Pours near water-white, faint yellow note. Still. Nose is really perfumey floral and baby powder, non-descript otherwise. Sweet honey and sugar, distinct ethanol notes as well. On tasting, soft and light vanilla. This is a sweet mead, but balanced. Very clean, warming ethanol. Nice sack mead, if a bit one-dimensional. Heather-much preferred this one. Funky tartness and earthy notes to the nose. Wild honey, light on the florals. On tasting, clean and has an acidic slant that will mellow in time. Noted alcohol. Super interesting with a faint turpentine note that I kind of like. Can’t wait to try this another 3 years or so.

Pours a nice yellow hue. Aroma is rich sweet honey. Flavor is honey, sweet but not overly so. Light vanilla and a touch of oak. One of the best non polish traditional meads I have ever had.

MicroGrog (240) - Slurping on Euro lager in Queens, New York, USA - OCT 10, 2012
Bottle from Charles St. Liquors. Baby Duvel glass. Clear, rich, straight gold body. Tiny, tiny particles. Uniform legs. Slight bit of foaming. Smells is quite big on floral honey. Chamomile, cream, maple candies, apple acidity, wax. Fuming alcohol. Somewhat sharp apple/malic acid forward taste. White sugar sweetness. Waxy floral/grassy honey. Tart lemon. Savignon Blanc. Bit of cardboard. Slippery body, subtly numbing. Grain & mushroom-like earthiness on the finish. Went in expecting something rich & deep, but still enjoyed the bottle.

Night of the Funk 2012. I truly love this meadery. Straight honey and clover with hints of deliciously spicy esters. Assertive sweetness complemented by definitive tartness. Awesome!

Bottle. Clear golden yellow color. Aroma is like performing cunnilingus on a queen bee. Taste is smooth and rich honey.

Bottle shared by Shane. Pours a clear gold with no head what so ever. Aroma is mainly dry honey with a bit of backing sweetness and a hint of light fruit. Flavor is similar with dry honey throughout and a growing underlying sweetness.

375 ml cobalt blue bottle. Pours a clear gold with a fizzy white head that quickly subsides. This mead has some effervescence. The aroma is sweet honey with some earthiness to it. The flavor is exactly the same as the aroma with sweet honey and that same earthiness, which I think detracts from the honey. A little thick on the palate, but this is offset by the effervescence. I’ve had several meads from this meadery that I like very much; this is not one of them.

Pours a deep golden color with a smattering of bubbles that form a ring on top of the glass. Smells sweet and sugary. Lots of honey, light fruits and a hint of alcohol on the nose. Taste is quite sweet and sticky on the mouth. Honey, licorice and light sweet fruits in the flavor. Medium to thick body, still with a few bubbles and a sweet almost sticky mouthfeel. Decent mead maybe a little one dimensional.
