Tap: black pour with medium-sized beige head. Aroma is smokey grain with toffee and molasses. Flavor is smokey with roasted grain, toffee, raisin, and a lightly tart cherry ending. A somewhat thick flavorful sipping beer, interesting...may have more.

On tap at City Beer 7th Anniversary party. Pours dark brown with a decent tan head and a treacle aroma. There is a carbonated slightly sour black malt flavor with a dry finish. A bit livelier than most schwarbiers, still quite tasty.

On tap at city beer pours black with off white head. Taste starts out with lots of malt and ends with a slight funk sour.

Almost black in color with a tan head. Nose is rather fruity, sort of has a plum and raisin aspect to it. Nice roasted malt, coffee, a slight acidity, and a bit of chocolate. Sweet flavor at first with toffee and dark fruit notes. The finish is lightly bitter and a bit tart/acidic. Nice coffee and roasted malt with a light chocolate note.

Black with a thick foamy head. Aroma is coffee, toffee and pecans. Flavor is dry at first, but sweet in the finish. Smooth mouthfeel. This is an excellent beer.

On tap. Very dark brown to black with a fizzy tan head. Sweet roasted grain and light chocolate flavors up front with a light citrus tartness on the back end with a crisp clean finish and a slightly oily medium bodied palate.
