Bottle from Matkroken Natland, Bergen. Pours a deep brown, near-black body with a medium creamy off-white head. Nose is loads of coffee, dark chocolate, burnt toast and hints of sweet dark malts underneath. Taste is roasted coffee beans, dark chocolate, grains, straw and hints of burnt toast and nuts. Medium body, medium to high carbonation. A solid and surprisingly tasty coffee stout for its low ABV; this is a good one again from Moor (and Arbor/Clifton).

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Keg at the Bat. Bit paler that expected for a stout, a near-opaque brown, with a beige head. Aromas of coffee and quite a chunk of hops. Good mouthfeel, if a little thin. Finish could do with a touch more bitterness.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
[keg, the Hanging Bat, Edinburgh] Deep slightly brownish, almost totally black pour, with a thin white head. Reasonable coffee aroma – and flavour, although there’s maybe something missing. Could be that it would be better on cask, I don’t know. The citrus and pine from the hops came through, but struggled past the coffee rather than embracing, or high-fiving, as it went past

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Keg at Hanging Bat. Dark, surprisingly viscous black pour, thin mocha head fades to almost nothing. Weak damp coffee, light lemon/lime, soft roast nose. Soft dark malts with a hint of citrus before a big bitter coffee hit and a deep herbal bitter finish. Ok, not particularly well balanced for me.
