Keg at Brewdog Shepherds Bush, black with a lacing head, strong coffee aromas. Palate is burnt bitter and dry roasty, with a big coffee hit and a light herbal bitterness.

Keg at The Kings Arms, Bethnal Green, London. Very dark chestnut with cream head. There is a rich, roasty character to this, bittering, freeze dried coffee notes, liquorice roots. Good thick palate. Very decent.

An older bottle brewed in the brewery’s previous location in Somerset. Dark body, medium head. Aroma has stale coffee and sweet dark roast. A bit thin mouthfeel with old coffee and medium roast. Yet another stale coffee stout. Too expensive for a session strength beer. I like the special 66 cl bottle though. Is this what a normal sized bottle feels like for a short person? Don’t answer that, it was a rhetorical question.

Bottle - Big piney hops and dark roast. Jet black with a light brown head. Dark malts, bit of coffee and tons of hops. More like a black IPA.. Not enough coffee, but great anyways.

Bottle from bottleshop.eu. Thanks Bob! Dark brown/black colour, brown foam. Lots of roasted malts and coffee, light sour touch. Hoppy bitter finish. Almost no sweetness. Good.

Keg at the brewery. Opaque black coloured pour with a lasting frothy cream coloured head. Attractive beer. Atoms is nice piney hop, hint of choc, soft roast. Tangy dark fruit, soft roast, bit of piney hop, hint of lactose sugar. Palate is quite light, milky, highish carbonation. Bit of chalk. Very good.
