COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"The always superb Old Freddie Walker dark ale serves as the base for this cask matured ale. Matured in Royal Somerset Brandy Casks, this beer is an absolute dream. Full, malty and with biterness superbly balanced by deep caramel and spiced apple flavours. As with all the Moor beers, generous hopping creates a long, lingering finish. This is a must for the beer connoisseurs amongst you. Itís expensive for sure but excellence comes at a price and we feel that itís worth every penny."

Bottle, home. Poured into Budvar stein glass. Nice opaque appearance. Good dark lacing. Nice lasting aroma of brandy, figgs and dump warehouses. Interesting combination. Taste is very smokey, roasted malts, brandy, lots of big boozey notes shine through, some figgs, some caramel, some tough bready texture, lots of sweet candi sugar balancing the beer. Good balanced and interesting. Very nice take on brandy aging. Moor, please do something with whiskey. I am not a brandy person and would like this.

Dark brown, possibly muddy. Fruity aroma with apple notes, alcohol heat and some dark burnt sugars (Okinawa black). Soft body. Black sugar and raisins, with light fruitiness and a slight apple brandy note. Surprisingly mellow after that burly nose. This is a good treatment.

Quack-Duck (8653) - Down South, GERMANY - SEP 26, 2010
bottle from Dartís Farm. Deep black colour, some beige froth. Compley nose of chocolate, caramel, roasted malts, cider and brandy. Very full-bodied, huge flavours going on: caramel, chocolate, brandy, cider, oak, and more caramel. Incredibly smooth on the palate with a lingering complex finish. A beer to savour slowly on a cold autumn evening. Sensational - should have bought more.

Bottle bought in beer store in Cheddar. Thick, pitch black with small tight tan head. Crazy aroma. Chocolate-layered wood barrels. Bourbon-drenched black forest cake. Dark chocolate flour. Very soft creamy palate. Deceptively drinkable. At no point does it seem hot or heavy. Rich, compacted chocolate and bittersweet cocoa. Some orange zest. Finishes chocolatey with some wood astringency. Absolutely delightful.
