3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 madmitch76 (9867) - , Essex, ENGLAND - JAN 20, 2013
16th July 2011 Opaque dark brown beer. Ghost of a tan head. Light dry palate. Smooth with a touch of fine carbonation. Nice fresh tasting dark malt with well integrated dark chocolate and mild coffee. The apple brandy is also well integrated and not overwhelming. The brandy spice is more obvious than the subtle apple. Touch of bubblegum ester. Finishes dry. Nicely joined up.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 ClubGonzo (2713) - Bergen, NORWAY - DEC 22, 2012
Bottle. Pours a brownish-black body with a medium beige head. Aroma is deep burnt sugars, raisins, licorice, wood, apple peel, hints of leather and caramel. Lovely apple/calvados BA touch. Taste is sweet caramel and wood up front, then some nearly cider-ish apple tones, licorice and subtle toffee/brown sugar-like hints. Some faintly tart aftertaste notes of yeast and nuts. Full body, medium carbonation. Original and very, very tasty. In fact, it’s pretty damn impressive. Another winner from Moor, which is rapidly coming up as my favorite British brewery.

Pours black with a decent light brown head. Aroma is malty and very estery forward - caramel, raisins, dates, baked apples, hints of chocolate ganache, lightly oxidized, a bit if cinnamon, ripe red grapes, weak oaky spiciness - awesome very complex aroma. Taste is sweet with notes of rye bread, raisins, light feeling of silky chocolate, a bit spicy and lightly astringent i. Te finish, just like a cider. Good stuff!
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 RasmusOtt (869) - Aalborg, DENMARK - MAY 8, 2012
Pours black with a brown head. Aroma is minty gum, sweeter fruits, figs, raisins, liquorice, hazelnuts, chocolate, a touch of cheap cocoa, chocolate and dark english malts. Taste is rather fruity (plums), hazelnuts, chocolate, figs, a bit of alcohol aswell, english liquorice, apples, slight oak notes and that minty feel is still present. I would do this!

Bottle. Black, very little head. Smells of mocha, raisin and cooked apples, with nice oakiness. Really woody, dry flavours, like black filter coffee, and nice apple core things going on. Pleasingly thick and viscous. Love this.

Bottle at home. Thick black pour, tiny brown head fades to nothing. Intense nose of oak, dark chocolate, liquorice, raisins, some brandy booze. Palate is dry and woody, with an appealing note of tannic apples, some oaky vanilla, and a drying, warm woody finish. Alcohol is pretty well-hidden, a really complex beer!
