This is the fusion of young and old, grain and fruit, tradition and innovation. We skillfully blended this vintage from our Old Ale matured in barrels previously used to age Somerset Cider Brandy. The result is stunning - a drink of huge depth and complexity.

Dark Cola brown, more or less headless with some greasy lacing. Bright boozy bubblegum, toffee apple and walnuts. Very plseantly vibrant throughout. I’m sure I had this on cask. Wee bit cooler and palate, lightly spicy. Softest carbination but rolls into a slick burn. Lightest coconut, very soft and drinkable. Barrell comes through quite dryly, gloomy sweet. Linger is bright and a wee hit rubbery. Bottle, Cornelius.

Bottled@PBF IX. More or less black ccolour, small brown head. Aroma is liquorice some alcohol and mild spices. Flavour is liquorice, alcohol, some metallic (bloody) notes. I did like what this was going to be, but not what it turned out to be (from the aroma pow).

66 cl bottle @ PBF IX.
Pours dark red-brown color with a small head. Some roasted malts and chocolate on the aroma, faint wooden notes also. A bit salty flavor, some malts, caramel and soy-like oily notes. Slick malty palate. Weird and a bit below my expectations.

650ml bottle @ PBF IX

Pours dark brown, almost black with a smooth head. Aroma of nutty malts, berries, wood, ripe fruits and syrup. Taste is sweetish, malty and woody with notes of ripe fruits, berries and syrup. Finish is stuffy and malty with some wood and berries. Okay.

Bottle 660ml (PBF IX)
Dark brown color, small brown head. Slightly earthy, licorice aroma. Medium-bodied. Licorice, earthy flavors. A bit sweet in the finish. Suprisingly strong cellar flavor. Disappointing.

660 ml bottle @ PBF IX. Pours a dark brown colour with a small head. Aroma of roasted malts, green apples, some sweetness and wood. Rich flavour of roasted malts, strong wooden tartness, caramel sweetness and apple core. Full bodied and a dry, apple, very tart wooden finish. Quite harsh and dry compared to 2012 version. Feels raw, at least for now.

66cl bottle @ PBF Ⅸ
Aroma is sweet with some bourbon tones and vanilla. Feels quite light. Flavour is odd with urinal cake, some sourness and citrus, Feels thin for this ABV - and I’d expect a beer with this name to be more rich. Now this feels just straightforward bourbon juice with some root beer tones.

Bottle shared by martjoobolut, thanks! Very dark brown, frothy tan head. Nose is licorice, vanilla, woody notes, fruity-berry hints, alcohol, sugar. Taste is prunes, chocolate, oak, smoky notes, alcohol, apple brandy. Dry finish, full mouthfeel, oily texture, soft carbonation. Great beer.
