COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask, Special;
What started out as a little bit of fun quickly became the favourite of many die hard ale fans and has become permanent. Probably best described stylistically as a Californian IPA, this beer has all the rich malt and fruit flavours of a Barley Wine combined with the hoppy crispness of a Pale Ale. And as best said by one of its biggest fans, "Hoppiness = Happiness."

Snyggt disig orange. Stor doft med massor av tropiska frukter. Övrmogen frukt? jäst. Smaken är en explosion av passionsfrukt, men även andra tropiska frukter. Ordentlig beska med hyfsat häng. Relativit torr avslutning med viss jästighet.

660ml bottle from Ales by Mail

BBE 31 Oct 2014 - Pours dark orange with a smooth and bubbly white head. Aroma of resinous hops, grass, citrus, lemon, grapefruit, zesty fruitness and pine. Taste is hoppy, caramely malty and citrusy with loads of zesty fruits, pine and resinous notes. Finish is sweetish, crisp, zesty and juicy hoppy with loads of pine, grass, resin and citrus. Nice, well balanced and tasty West Coast IPA. Great stuff.

660ml Bottle, listed at 6.7% and Bottle Conditioned. Another huge thanks to @BalkanMac for bringing me this lovely beer. Firm pour of lovely opaque orange with some small oily head. Gorgeously inviting aroma of C hops, some juicy resin. Body is very well balanced but still enjoys a load of fresh hops, and does not get too astringent or bitter. Easy and tasty to drink. The fruity hops in the start are very tasty, I enjoy this for being a very nicely fruit hopped pale ale, without as much of the darker grain backbone often found in England. Great beer, very refreshing, and I’d be a happy man with this around regularly.

Bottle. Stunning. This is a stunner of a beer, hoppy aroma, bitter but not so much, cracking profile of grass, grapefruit, lemon, and a few other things,. Sadness is that I got the one. Starts a bit one dimension, then just as it sits for a few minutes gives up a lot more. Really well balanced, really moorish (no pun intended) and gives me the #happyface , and then the #sadface as that was it the one bottle. Off to give myself an uppercut.

On tap @ Kick. Unclear orange body with a small off-white head. Lovely aroma of citric and tropical fruit with some resin, pine and malt. Flavor is quite fruity, sweet malty and rather bitter. Quite sweet and quite bitter, but manage to keep a fine balance. Nice body with a long lasting sweet and bitter aftertaste. A nice one from Moor.

660ml bottle [6.7% abv]. Slightly cloudy golden colour with average, thick, creamy, fully lasting, superbly lacing, white head. Citrusy hop aroma has notes of grapefruit, mango, peach, orange zest, a minimally piney touch. Taste is piney, resinous and fruity bitter hoppy, minimally sweaty caramel malty basis with a biscuit touch, decent notes of grapefruit, orange, mango. Wow! Somerset must be England’s California.

Hazy orange, medium white head with nice lacing and a thin retention. Nose is lots of citrus, mainly oranges and grapefruit, herbal tones, caramel sweetness, malt. Taste is very fresh hops with oranges, peaches, warm malt with somewhat sweet caramel tones. Finish is hoppy, bitter, pine and grapefruit, lemon peel. Lingering bitterness with malty sweetness and citric notes in the aftertaste. Medium body, soft carbonation, oily (but not sticky) palate. Fresh, smooth, fruity. Very nice.

660 ml bottle.
Pours a dark copper amber colour with a white head. Aroma of caramel, strong heavy resiny hops, herbs and bread. Rich flavour of strong resiny hops, heavy caramel, mild citrus, strong herbal notes such as fresh coriander, sticky syrup, cough drops and some mild pineapple notes. Medium bodied, heavy mouthfeel and soft carbonation. It does indeed feel more like a Barley Wine rather than an IPA. The amount of resiny hops is a bit too overwhelming, as it pretty much runs over all the juicy fruitiness here. Very unique I’d say. First impression: 3.7.

However: after the first glass (about 25 cl) and with the yeast poured in, the resiny notes disappear, and all the fruitiness comes through much stronger (both aroma- and flavour-wise). Notes of pineapple, orange, apricot, grapefruit, some candy pastille and mint. For someone who tastes only the first 25 cl this turns out to be quite a different beer.
