COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask, Special;
What started out as a little bit of fun quickly became the favourite of many die hard ale fans and has become permanent. Probably best described stylistically as a Californian IPA, this beer has all the rich malt and fruit flavours of a Barley Wine combined with the hoppy crispness of a Pale Ale. And as best said by one of its biggest fans, "Hoppiness = Happiness."

Draught @ Drink Baar
Aroma is rather fruity with caramel. Lots of caramel. Also some resin and toffee. Flavour is fruity with berries and gooseberry bush. Aroma was nice but flavour is too much on the harsh bitter side.

Tap @ Drink Baar. Pours amber copper with nice white head. The head stays, nice lacing. Aroma is pine, grapefruit, and caramel. Taste: strong grapefruit bitter, caramel, sweetness in the back. Finish is long grapefruit bitter. Overall: nice juicy IPA.

Besides Thornbridge Halcyon, this is the best IPA from England Iíve had. Juicy citrus and grapefruit hop notes in the aroma and flavor, well balanced by the caramel malts. The color was slightly off, like a butterscotch amber, not quite what I was expecting. Nice abv, could be slightly more, would love to see it in the 7-8% range, but 6.5% is fine. Finish is bitter and resiny, great full mouthfeel. As this one warmed up a bit, some lovely caramel malt character came out, making the finish even more smooth. Really nice.

660ml bottle. Pours a hazy deep gold, with a moderate off-white head, which lasts well without leaving too much lacing. Pine resin, grapefruit and mild mango hops mix with a little burnt caramel malt in the aroma. Powerful resin and grapefruit hops up front give way to a less aggressive mango flavour. There is a little caramel malt in an otherwise fairly light body, with resurgent resin hops to finish. The hops flavours of this beer are good, and nicely assertive, but it could have done with a little bit more malt body to lend it balance. Itís good, but it could have been better.

Bottle -hazy dark gold colour with slim white head. Aroma of citrus hops, orange, peach, pine and caramel malt. Similar in the taste, nice creamy mouthfeel, medium body, moderate carbonation, long bitter finish. Very good and much better than I was expecting.

Bottle, Christmas gift from Lalitha. Mid amber colour, nice bottle (design and size). Full hoppy aroma. Big tasting beer. Hops, quite rich oily hop feel, fruity and actually not especially bitter and a little sweet. Some malt sweetness in there too. Very drinkable for abv and style. A nice IPA.

UPDATED: APR 30, 2014 Hazy golden orange color, small white head. Sweet fruity aroma of peach, resin, piny hops, citrus and caramel. Taste is similar, dry sweet with lovely bitterness in finish and long hoppy aftertaste. Medium body and soft carbonation. Great stuff, very enjoyable and nicely balanced IPA.

Orange-yellow with a thin white head. Nice fruity aroma, peach, citrus- orange and grapefruit, floral hops. Taste was sweet with a very bitter/astringent finish, good, but Iím not sure how well balanced I found this one - normally I love a big bitter hoppy IPA, but something just didnít click for me with this one. Thin oily texture, light carbonation. Like I say good, but not the best IPA Iíve ever had.
