Style: Black Ale Draught ABV: 4.5% Illusion is our latest creation, which is inspired by the awesome new beer style created in the States known as Imperial Black Ale. We really admire the profile of this new style but wanted a session strength version. We brewed ours at 4.5% instead of the typical 8%+, but wanted to retain the unique flavour profile. We sourced the special malt required from Germany and the hops from America to create a beer of stunning depth and complexity. The beer is black in appearance but lacks the acrid flavours associated with all other dark beers. This is achieved through use of the special German malt. The hop aromas and flavours are very intense, which we achieve through a major dose of dry-hopping in the cask. The result is a beer that wraps all the wonderful hop profiles of a pale ale inside a silky black exterior. It is truly an Illusion that deceives your eyes and dazzles your taste buds. Due to the rare nature of these special ingredients it is a limited release beer, but we are looking at making it more regularly available if possible.

Bottle, shared with Parksy. Highly carbonated near-black pour resulting in a lively bubbly brown head that messes the sides of the glass nicely. This beer offers a surprising intensity for 4.5%. Lots of dark roast character, very malty with an equally potent piney hop blast, coniferous and grassy. Moor has done a fantastic job with this one-- a low-ABV black IPA that drinks much bigger than expected. A session brew that does not force one to compromise.

Cask at The Hanging Bat. Pours clear dark brown with a thin beige head. Aromas of light coffee, cheesy hops. Taste is more resin, very light on the roast, which I like in a BIPA. Finishes with a bit too much hop funk. OK..

Una black ipa eccezionale marchio Moor con un ottimo equilibrio tra caffé e amaro, buona luppolatura intensa e gusto prolungato. Wow!

Draught. Pitch black beer with thin creamy tan head. Intense aroma mixes fresh piney and floral hops with heavily roasted, almost smoky and salty licoricy malts and a hint of dried fruits (dates). Malty flavor for light ale like this, some dark caramel, biscuits and mellow tarry/ashy roast in the finish. Slight, dark fruitiness the yeast. Bitterness is piney with lingering resinous bite. Very well balanced. Light to medium body, frothy texture. Great beer.

Bomber (4,7% ABV). A hazy dark brown to black beer, with a large, frothy, fully lasting, light brown head. The aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (resin, grapefruit, lemon), with a note of exotic fruits. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, average carbonation, very long finish with moderate to heavy bitterness. A damn tasty and drinkable black IPA. Intensely hoppy and roast, it gains after each sip and as it warms. Moor confirms its high quality standards.

660ml bottle. Black-brown colour, beige foamy head leaving lots of lacing and citrusy, hoppy aroma. Taste is roast malt, coffee, with some grapefruity citrus earthy bitterness. Tangy mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry roasted & hoppy bitter finish. Very drinkable.

Bottle. Close to black with a medium sized light brown good lacing head. Citrus, pine, flowery, light marywanna, light chocolate and roasted malt. Medium body, oily texture, soft/medium carbonation, light/medium sweet and medium bitter. Long light dry hoppy finish. Lots of action for low abv.

Scopey (6915) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 25, 2014
Bottle thanks to SlackerMads during the IoW Jolly. It pours darkest ruby with a medium beige head. The nose is rich, juicy, roasted malt, orange peel, sherbet, tobacco and dark chocolate. The taste is rich, roasted malt, pepper, good deal of bitterness, dark chocolate, wood, coffee and some acidity with a dry finish. Light-medium body and moderate carbonation. Rather well-rounded and supremely drinkable. Great low abv black IPA action.
