COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

This is one big beer. Forget the ABV, which is just a by-product of the passion. James and Josh from the Queen’s Arms, Corton Denham, and I (hence JJJ) have a shared passion for great beers and were lamenting the lack of true IPAs in the UK. So we decided to brew our own version of heaven. Double IPA was just not good enough - we needed a triple IPA. Triple the gravity, triple the colour, and more than triple the hops. With nearly 700 kg of malt and over 11.5 kg of hops this beer is big in every sense. In fact, it was so big and hoppy that it broke our pump! Deep copper in colour, over the top in aroma and flavour, but somehow still remaining (somewhat) balanced, this beer is not for the faint of heart. And if you don’t like hops, don’t even think about it. But if you do, dare we say this may be the best beer you’ll ever taste. We like it so much that upon racking we decided to make it a permanent part of the range.

Bottle kindly shared by Sigmund. Pours a hazy opper body with a big bubbled tan colored film. Tropical salty fruits, sprucy pollen and meaty notes on the nose. Herbal, salty, malty and bitter flavors. Full bodied. Brothy texture and a dry tomgue.

Bottle courtesy of StoreMy, shared @ tasting with Bergen Beer Geek Tasting Crew feat. Foffern, StoreMy and the local media! :-) Pours a deep, dark orange hazy body with a small white head. Nose is nutty honey tones, caramel, melon, grass and hints of molasses. Taste is fuzzy, grassy hop tones, honey, caramel, beeswax and hints of grass. Long, bitter aftertaste. Damn, this is one fine beer from Britain, and its refreshing to taste a DIPA in a different tradition than the American. Like to see more of those.

Very rare Cask @ The Stockbridge Tap, Edinburgh EIBF 2012
Rich amber, clear, slight off white rich head, good lacing for abv
Aroma - rich orangey caramel malts, rich resonous hops, some grassy hops, orange citrus, dense juicy malts, rich resin, quite complex and fairly boozy
Taste as main aroma with rich orangey malts, rich caramel barley sugar malts, complex malts, grassy hops, soft citrus hops, sweet but not overly so, lots of flavours, saturated, quite boozy
Palate - soft carb, full body, oily silky texture. Finish as main flavour, smooyj not astringent despite big flavours.
Overall - Really glad to have tried this - very much into barley wine territory than US DIPA, lots of malt and resinous hops. Perhaps being at bit colder with some extra soft carbonation would enhance the drinkability.

Bottle. Pours a nice deep amber almost red with a tiny attempt at a head. Delicious hop aroma, pine, resin, mango and orange, toffee, smells a bit like boiled sweets. Taste has more of the same with a solid caramel and toffee malt backbone. Quite syrupy and sweet with a long bitter finish, slightly under-carbonated for me. Very tasty

Bottle wi Ben. Clear amber with a thin white head. Under carbonated. Lovely tropical fruit aroma. Mango and passionfruit. Flavour is sweet with a fruity acidic twang. Quite sweet with a managably bitter finish. Very nice.

66cl bottle from Drinkstore, Dublin. Pours watery orange with zero head - looks a bit of a mess. Aroma is deep orange, caramel, tangerine, mango, peach, and a bit of booze. Taste gives lots of orange peel, mango, grapefruit, pineapple, booze, sweet caramel, woody notes, pine resin. Lots of lingering grapefruit bitterness and resinous oily notes. Thin-ish mouthfeel - no carb. This is a big beer - plenty of flavour - more of a massively hopped barleywine than a typical DIPA, but who cares about 'style' when it's as delicious as this. Would've loved a bit more carbonation to lift it, but that's the only real criticism.

Thanks Aaron. Pours light brown with a small off white head. Nose is light citrus, some pine and other dark fruits. Grass and sweet caramel malts too. FLavor is sweet and just a tad bitter, great balance for an english IPA. Mouthfeel is crisp, clean and has a shorter aftertaste. Not bad at all.

God og lang ettersmak på denne. Bitter og fyldig med ravgul farve. Fruktig og lettdrukket.

Enjoyable highly hoppy barleywine to me, very drinkable. Pours light brown with lasting head. Good balanced aromas. Good balance for DIPA style. Worth seeking out, very drinkable.Above average mouthfeel.
