Jan 23, 2010 Draft @ Ørsted Ølbar, Copenhagen. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty licorice aroma with some hints of chocolate. Has a sweetish roasted malty chocolate and licorice flavor. Sweetish slightly roasted malty chocolate finish with some hints of licorice in the aftertaste.

Jan 15, 2010 Very dark brown with a brown and small, but firm head. Aroma is quite strong and pleasant: dried fruit, coffee, roasted malt, licorice, touch of burnedness. Flavor is sweetish and fruity, licoricey, but also dry and roasty - even slightly burned. Burnedness is not irritating, though, with lots of other flavors to cover it. Almost full-bodied, and smooth despite the slight ashiness and foamy carbonation. A pleasant, roasty and full old ale.

Dec 30, 2009 Dark opaque brown, thin tan head. Chocolate, nuts, candy sugar, spices. Full-bodied, rich fruitcake, chocolate, fruity, earthy/flowery hops, coffee. Lacking a little end-palate. Decent winter warmer.

Dec 30, 2009 Cask at Turf Tavern, a while back.
Aroma of chocolate, caramel. Well roasted yet not burnt. Quite fruity and relatively sweet. Rich, strong, flavorful. Very nice.

Black color. The body is weaker than the alcohol may suggest. There is some caramel and chocolate flavor, light residual sweetness, but also a yeast presence, both the aroma and flavor. Nothing special.

The body is rich and full while the carbonation is low. Roasted sweet malts, very dried fruits and a hint of licorice. Lightly bitter finish with warming alcohol. 271109

Dark brown color, small brown head. Aroma of coffee, licorice and cough syrup. Flavor has licorice, roasted malts and coffee. But easier to drink than it sounds. Liquerish palate. Dry, slight sweet touch of sweet licorice. Not much hops. Pleasant.
