adster (427) - HUNGARY - SEP 16, 2014

wedgie9 (2004) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - SEP 2, 2014
Tasted on 2/8/14 from a bottle at the RBWG Grand Tasting. Pours nearly opaque dark brown with a thin tan head that leaves a thin collar of lace. The nose is dark roast, a bit nutty, with a touch of vanilla and some baking spice. The flavor is very dry and a bit more baking spice with the vanilla taking a back seat. The body is medium with average carbonation and a long, baking spice finish.

Bottle, Chester Beer & Wine. Very dark brown pour with not much head to speak of. Nose had notes of chocolate, malts and dark fruits. The flavour ploughed a similar furrow. with some berry fruit present alongside some warming booze. Smooth and characterful. Definitely an enjoyable winter brew.

Cask at the Hanging Bat. Dark red brown pour, thin, short-lived head. Rich aromas of spice and fruitcake, light booze bite, almonds maybe. Taste is sweet, nutty. Finishes sticky. Good.

Bottle, ages ago, from Beer Central, Sheffield. Clear, ruby red. Halo of tan head. Dried vine fruit. Light cocoa. Some bitter nuttiness. Taste is dry fruit sweet. Plenty of plummy dryness, too. Smooth, creamy soft palate. Finish is light dry, and light bitter. Very easy drinking.

oliodnb (336) - ITALY - JUL 13, 2014
66cl bottle. Very dark brown, almost black, with a creamy beige head that disappears quite fast. Smell is roasted malts, lignt coffee and some fruit sweetness as the beers warms up. Taste is a huge lot of coffee, chocolate and roasted malts. Milky sweetness and a very thick consistency really makes it like a liquid dessert. Some fruity notes again (peach, banana). Very light final roasted bitterness. Delicious!

Bottle sample from RBWG Grand Tasting notes. Pours a dark cola brown color with reddish highlights and a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, sweeter caramel, molasses, dark fruit, figs, raisins, some earthy character, not bad, smooth.

Aroma is mocha, deep chocolate and caramel. Taste is a rich malt sweetness with light roastiness and light smokiness. A dry bitterness is met at finish. Appearance is a black body with thin pearl head that retains fairly poorly.
