Flat gorgeous black look, pours flat with sticky foam. Welcoming taste with lovely smell of dessert. Less treacly than expected. Good drink. From bottle in bar.

0,66L bottle, BB 31.10.2015. Pours very dark brown, almost black with brown head. The head doesn’t stay. Aroma is roast, dark chocolate, berries, and fruits. Taste is sweet, coffee, dark chocolate, fruit cake, and smoke. Finish is dark chocolate bitter with some smoke. Overall: lovely brew.

Dark brown to almost black beer, small brown head. Nose is chocolate, roast, malt, berry hints. Flavor is dark fruits, raisiny-vinous notes, ash, roast, light hops and some warming alcohol in the finish. Nicely balanced. Bottle shared by martjoobolut, thanks!

Bottle - black with a slim tan head. Moderate malty, roasted aroma with light hops. Flavour is considerably more complex; roasted malts, liquorice, dark fruits, sweet, lightly bitter, alcohol notes, chocolate. Full bodied, lightly carbonated. Very good old ale.

From a bottle. Rich roasted flavours, smooth, mild aroma, a touch thin for what I expected but still a great beer.

Mortlach (962) - Rome, ITALY - MAR 16, 2014
11/02/2014 Open Baladin Roma (handpump). Nera, densa, impenetrabile, schiuma leggera liquida, bianco sporca, discretamente persistente.
