Bottle at Fastelavn Smagning 2014 @ J&C’s beer palace, Jutland Saturday Session 1 - 01/03/14. Hazed pale golden orange with a moderate odd white covering. Nose is tangerine, toasted malts, hops, lemon sherbet, grassy pangs. Taste comprises toasty malt, melon, orange pith, bread dough. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Solid enough offering, I had this down as an APA with limited hop presence, bloody golden blondes !!!

Bottle, 66cl. A hazy, pale golden beer with some microfloaties and a small, dense, off-white head. The aroma is quite citrusy and piney, with the pale malts doing their supporting job in the back. The flavor has a little citrus peel touch, with pine cones and orange notes. Not so much malty sweetness, but some is present. It’s quite dry on the palate, medium bodied and with a tad too much carbonation. Lasting bitter and citrusy finish. Pretty nice and tasteful this one, but a tad boring, sort of. 140301

Cask, gravity at Derby, Roundhouse, NWAF, Saturday 22nd February 2014 in company of Loz, dad and Pauline. Hazy yellow with thin white rim furry, hoppy really quite lovely, no looker admittedly but really good. Sweet initially but very well balanced and far too suppable (dangerous) I returned to this again as others were fast running out. A7 A3 T7 P4 Ov15 3.7

660 ml bottle from Ales By Mail, served in a nonic pint glass. Pale golden colour -some olive oil green tinges- slightly hazy with a tiny off-white head which disappeared instantly like a fizzy soda. Not a good sign. Underwhelming aroma: mild grains, hay, some nuttyness and roots, dusty/cellar notes and a bit of cardboard. It smells lager-ish. Same impressions in the mouth, huge astringency typical of a cheap imperial pils, not much crispness presence or bitterness, tiny bit of herbal hops, almost medicinal but then an unpleasent detergent/floor cleaner sensation follow. Very soft carbonation and light body, but not watery. Honestly I can not find a single similarity to a proper APA in this beer, and I’m afraid it’s really gone off. A shame.
