COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask & bottle conditioned; Regular.
3.8% on draught, 4.0% in bottle.

A very hoppy and refreshing bitter, brewed to celebrate the revival of the brewery, and meant to revive you when you need it. Light in colour but not flavour thanks to a blend of Pale, Lager, Cara, Crystal and Wheat malts. The hops are a blend of American varieties, with American-style yeast providing a crisp finish. For a beer relatively low in alcohol it has a very full flavour and drinks well above its strength, earning it a multitude of awards and setting the standard for the style. A modern classic!

Growler. Gold with a white head. Aroma of grapefruit, pepper, the meadow, light butterscotch. Light-bodied. Bittersweet with fairly austere light biscuit and plenty of bitterness. Some pine as well as grapefruit, grass and pepper. Refreshing but not all that welcoming.

Pretty sure this is the best bitter I’ve had yet, tasted like it had a huge sticky mash but somehow clocks in below 4%. Unfortunately this is priced as a "premium beer" here on Vancouver Island but if it were priced the same as local it would be my go-to beer, I can’t believe how incredibly balanced this is. Absolutely no diacetyl.

YNWA, Kolding, DK. Tap, 201012. Amber with white head. Aroma of malt and fruit. Flavour with spices and moore malt

Densely hoppy alpine hop nsoe and a milky yellow body, almost Weiss-esque before settling. Minimal zest on the uptake of initial taste before a slalom of hops on the palate with a cuttingly dry ending that doesn’t quite match the effort which preceeded it.

A bold bottle conditioned effort for the ABV on show, but with a finish more akin to pasty American lagers than a celebratory English effort. Again, would happily re-rate on cask.

Bottle, Great Grog, Edinburgh

Bottle from Coppers, Newcastle. A hazy dark golden beer with pine, toffee and slight tropical fruit flavours followed by a very bitter woody finish.

Cask at York Tap last week. Hazy gold, white head. Nose is grass, straw, and citrus fruits. Taste is the same, with some pineapple notes and a hoppy bitter finish.

Bottle 660ml @ Christianssand Brygghus, Kristiansand
Pours cloudy golden with a white head. Aroma has notes of malt, citrus and floral hops. Taste is light to medium sweet and medium bitter with a long fruity finish. Body is light to medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle thanks to Sylvain, best before October 2011. Cloudy amber not much head to speak off and mostly flat. Light, some malt, nice smooth and mellow bitterness, overall mild with a hint of sweetness at the end some moderate body. Probably a little past its prime but still worthwhile.

660 ml bottle @ Christianssand Brygghus. Hazy golden body with a big off-white head. Aroma has light malt, citric fruit and spices that reminds a bit about soap, but not in an unpleasant way. Flavor is quite sweet, light malt, fruity and moderate bitter. Medium body and aftertaste. Refreshing straight forward plain bitter.

Aroma is mostly citrus and pine. Some malt comes through. Some pineapple. Mouthfeel is lively. Taste is quite dry, plenty of tropical fruit. Subtle caramel note. This is a lot better than the abv would have you believe. Good.
