COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask & bottle conditioned; Regular.
3.8% on draught, 4.0% in bottle.

A very hoppy and refreshing bitter, brewed to celebrate the revival of the brewery, and meant to revive you when you need it. Light in colour but not flavour thanks to a blend of Pale, Lager, Cara, Crystal and Wheat malts. The hops are a blend of American varieties, with American-style yeast providing a crisp finish. For a beer relatively low in alcohol it has a very full flavour and drinks well above its strength, earning it a multitude of awards and setting the standard for the style. A modern classic!

650mL bottle, pours a clear pale golden yellow with a medium white head. Aroma is very pleasant, of English biscuit malts, dough, yeast (brett-like) and some light piney hops. Flavour is very similar, with the biscuity malts and dough upfront, leading to a dry, pleasantly hoppy bitter and yeasty finish. Very mild flavours, though quite impressive for being 3.8%. Very well-constructed and certainly way above par for the usually boring, ambition-less style. Quite enjoyable.

Bottle at home. Pours very orange, head dies very quickly. Nice lemony hop character, some breadiness. Orangey flavours, nice bitterness, pleasant grain notes. Nice palate, fine bubbles. Very sessionable, I imagine it would be terrific off cask.

Densely hoppy alpine hop nsoe and a milky yellow body, almost Weiss-esque before settling. Minimal zest on the uptake of initial taste before a slalom of hops on the palate with a cuttingly dry ending that doesn’t quite match the effort which preceeded it.

A bold bottle conditioned effort for the ABV on show, but with a finish more akin to pasty American lagers than a celebratory English effort. Again, would happily re-rate on cask.

Bottle: Poured a cloudy dirty beige color ale with a small foamy head with limited retention and almost no lacing. Aroma of dry hops with light bitterness notes. Taste is a mix between dry malt backbones with some dry bitter hops notes. Body is quite full with limited carbonation. Not bad and probably a hops profile that was faded due to age of bottle but still interesting nonetheless.

Bottled (thanks hanniku!). Golden colour with mediumsized white fluffy head. Aroma is very fruity, mildly grassy, floral as well as aramel malty. Flavour is quite strongly fruity with also some floral and grassy notes. aramel malts as well as some slight toffeelike notes balance the whole up into a quite pleasant brew. Quite dry wooden and grassy finish, with also a bunch of fruityness in it.

Bottle, at Christianssands Brygghus. It pours a semi-clear golden colour and a small off-white head. The aroma is mostly on the citrusy, piney side, with some malty notes. The flavour too is mostly on the hoppy side. Pine cones, resins and bitterness, with a touch of sweetness towards the end. Medium to full body with pleasant carbonation. One of the best British bitters I’ve had. 130314
