Rye adds a distinctive, spicy flavour to beer that is both interesting and enjoyable. It’s even better when paired with smoked malt. If you’re not used to smoked beer it may come as a bit of a surprise. Don’t worry, by the third one you’ll be hooked and book a ticket to Bamberg. Book an extra one for me please.

Keg at The Moor Brewery Tap, Bristol. Clear amber with white head. There is a slight smokiness to this from the start, thankfully, peaty, earthy, bon-fire hints. Sweet malts round the whole beer off, some fruitiness, some caramel. Pretty decent beer.

330ml Can @ fucken good ass shit : A lovely smokey nuance is evident and intertwined with resiny bitter hops. This is fucken quintessential craft beer ,assuming there is a true diagram: I would like to smoke my balls with this baby .

I had it a while ago and only remember it was a decent one. Oily mouth feel. Spicy and well balanced. The rye was present and made this beer quite dry, spicy and refreshing. I will definitely come back to it.

Draft tasting glass during Moor Tap Takeover @ Gollem. Dark brown amber with a creamy off-white head. Nose is lovely Bamberg smoked malt, mellow smoked tea with low sweetness, faint metallic note. Taste is mellow faintly grainy Bamberg smoked malt, smoked tea, low brown sugar, grainy, light dryness bread. Low faint herbal note. Lovely Bamberg smoked malt at first but it mellow out a bit over time, I could have definitely used more. I could have more Bamberg malt but I do get where they were going with this one & that they wanted something more accessible. Still very nice, drinks very easily.

Can from Smuggler’s Records Deal and drunk on a train to Ashford. Smoke yes without a doubt. Smoked sausage aroma. Yes more lightly smoked sausage. It’ll be one of those red pink ones. Good balance. I like the rye spiciness. Yep already hooked on this beer. A classic piece of spicy smoke. So good. I want to have sex with this beer. Beer in a can from a record shop in Deal and drunk on a train. Awesome. And it tastes of spicy smoked sausage. Are there enough tissues in the train toilets for this? Lovely. I want moor. Huh.

Bottle with Chris and Ruth in London. Clear copper/amber beer with a decent offwhite/beige head. Malty caramel aroma, light smoke, fruity, biscuits, some toffee. Malty smoked flavor, caramel, grapes, bready, toffee notes. Quite ok but slightly thin bodied.
