Rye adds a distinctive, spicy flavour to beer that is both interesting and enjoyable. It’s even better when paired with smoked malt. If you’re not used to smoked beer it may come as a bit of a surprise. Don’t worry, by the third one you’ll be hooked and book a ticket to Bamberg. Book an extra one for me please.

Very cloudy browny golden with a decent taught white cap. Nose is rich hammy sweet smoke. Initial taste is lean lemony charred brightness and creamy bitter backbone. Soft enough carbonation and a long, spicy mouthfeel. Finishes a bit more open, Chorizo spicy chewy and linger soft sweet Rye and a bit too creamy sickly for more than a third. Keg, Brewdog, Edinburgh.

Was given a bottle in Wrocław Poland. Poured a hazy orange colour with a wonderful light smokey aroma. Medium head with a smoke flavour

Bottle. Smoke is more remarkable in taste than in aroma. Very good drink ability. Rye malts give nice base for smokiness. Like it.

Pours hazy orange with medium head, leaves nice lacing. Aroma: pleasant, but no too dominating smoky-woody aroma, some plums in dried fruit in the background, like peaches, plums, raisins etc. Taste: smoky, a bit malty. Very drinkable.

330 ml on tap at Wench Pub. No idea about appearance, it’s dark in here. On the nose grassy and spicy hop notes, toffee/burnt caramel, slightly toasted malts and just a hint of fried bacon and paprika crisps. Liquid smoke taste upfront, solid malty (caramel, hazelnuts) backbone, very mild herbal astringency, lingering and clean earthy bitterness. Extremely high drinkability and, surprisingly, refreshing as well. Average carbonation, medium body, slightly oily texture. Excellent.

Aroma: smoked notes, rye, dark malts. Appearance: hazy amber color, perfect white head. Taste: low bitterness, rye, earthy notes, dark malts, spicy, smooth and quite dry. Palate: medium body and medium carbonation, earthy finish. Overall: Perfect combination of rye and smoked notes. Really enjoying.

Prezentacja piwo ciemno bursztynowe, piana betonowa drobna, Aromat wędzonka szynkowa, nic innego się nie przebija, Smak wędzony, lekka goryczka, lekka słodycz, Odczucie pełne nisko nasycone, nie za długi wędzony finisz, Ogólnie świetnie wyważone piwo, doskonały balans słodyczy goryczki i wędzoności.
