Port St Beerhouse 27 Jan 13. Fra keg. Mørk aprikosfarget. Lavt tett skum. Litt lacing. Hint av bacon i aromaen. Smaken er bacon med innslag av frukt. Godt gjemt men en aner litt syrlige epler. Tørr syrlig ettersmak. Røyken ligger under hele tida.

600ml bottle (Koht, Tallinn)
Thinnish elastoplast phenolic aroma. Hazy orange, small head with odd tapioca-like visuals (round blobs surrounded with cream between them), taste follows the aroma closely. Thin palate, crisp carbonation, almost feels watery. Very simple smoke/phenol/elastoplast finish. I need more from a smoked beer, this is not an integrated whole, more of a gimmick.

500ml bottle. Cloudy copper color. Small size, fizzy head. Hops, hay, grassy, fruity aroma. Quite weak aroma overall. Smoke, bit of rubber, roast, caramel in taste. Smoked notes in aftertaste. Feels and tastes thin.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cask at The Gun Winter Ale festival. It pours a dark brown body with a small beige head. Aroma is earthy and smoky, with notes of cocoa, wood and spices. Taste is mildly sweet upfront with more smoky woody bitterness in the middle of the sip. Finishes a bit spicy and ashy. Quite good if a bit overdone maybe.

Cask at The Gun winter beer festival. Pours hazy orange with a lace driven white head. Nose is loaded with tropical hops and heavy spice and peppers. Taste is very pepper and spice driven with a good amount of tropical hops to balance it out. More spiced than smokey. Solid

A very complex, subtil and quaffable beer. A rare smoked rye ESB. If you like smoked flavors and ESB this is your beer.

Keg at Hanging Bat. Pours hazy orange, no real head. Light orange aromas, light spice on the nose too, not getting much smoke. Taste has more orange bitterness, oily texture, caramel sweetness with a little more spice. OK.
