Somerland Gold is another regular medal winner. If you like your beers golden, hoppy and refreshing then this is for you, but be careful - it goes down quickly for 5%. Pale and Wheat malts are jostling for your attention with Challenger and Northern Brewer hops. At this strength our English yeast leaves hints of honey.

660 ml bottle.
Pours a clear golden colour with an orange hue and a white head. Aroma of honey, butter and grassy hops. Some weak cooked vegetable -like notes as well. Flavour of grassy bitterness, floral notes, honey, biscuity malts and mandarin orange. Light bodied, a bit thin mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Finishes lingering bitter and a bit sweet. Not my kind of a golden ale with such malt and hop profile.

Pours golden yellow with a small white head. Smell fruit, vanilla, and yeast. Tastes of light fruit and vanilla on the front end with a nice bitter on the back end. Lightly carbonated and refreshing.

ciaranc (781) - Dublin, IRELAND - MAR 9, 2013
Slight haze in the golden pour, very pale. Lots of activity in the glass. Lasting white head, foamy. Looks good. Not much aroma, some malt and vanilla pods. Flavour is dry malt up front, followed by sweet malt backed by some moderate English hops. Nicely balanced in the finish. Not worth the money.

Rune (7760) - Tromsø, NORWAY - MAR 9, 2013
Cask ale by handpump at the Port Street Beer House, half, shared with Finn. Muddy golden body, bubbly surface. Fresh fruity aroma with oranges up front. Resinous hops to the taste buds, hints of fresh apricots as well as mid-sweet malts. Half dry bitter ending. Quite alright with a thirst quenching touch (Manchester, 27.01.2013).

Plovmand (6301) - Helsinge, DENMARK - MAR 9, 2013
Bottle. Pours clear golden with a medium bubbly white head. The aroma is fruity hoppy with notes of citrus and pineapple. Flavor is citrusy and malty with a bitter fruity finish. Nice session beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours cloudy orange, head is there at the start but does not last. Wheat & bready malts, a hint of caramel with orangey citrus and floral hops, long bitter finish. Well crafted beer but nothing unusual.

Nose is very much Belgian style golden ale. Pours a hazy, summery gold. Flavour has more of that Belgian quality - spice, honey, vinous fruit. Finish is rich and bitter and long. Very. Nice indeed.

gunnar (5096) - Sandnes, NORWAY - FEB 17, 2013
Bottle at Christianssand Brygghus. Pours light hazy golden with a big white creamy head. Aroma of weak grainy malts, a whiff of citrus. Taste is light sweet malty, moderate bitter hops towards the end, nothing to remember here.

imdownthepub (9954) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - JAN 16, 2013
Bottled, 660ml from West Country Ales, Cheddar, Somerset. Hazy gold with white head. This was quite a sharp, flowery beer from the start, quite crisp, but not as deep in flavour as I imagined I would get for the ABV. Biscuity, malty base, some sweetness. The bottle is a bit big for the beer really as it doesn’t maintain interest, still reasonable though.

larsga (6120) - Oslo, NORWAY - JAN 4, 2013
Small patchy white head. Slightly hazy yellow body. Dusty ashy herbal aroma with grassy notes. Dry ashy herbal taste with grassy notes. Mid-to-thin body. Slightly harsh, abrasive mouthfeel. Dry aftertaste is mostly the same, with fruity resiny notes. Nice but a bit harsh and bland. (0.66l bottle, Håndverkerstuene, Oslo.)
