Pours an incredibly dark brown that shows a tiny bit of amber around the sides when held up to the light. Off-white to tan head that holds retention. Aroma brings a tiny hint of chocolate with an overpowering roasted malt smell. Old style yeast is also present. The flavor starts at first with a mild malt that moves right into an old yeasty, deep mocha flavored body. A tiny hint of metal is present (although it seems like that is the way it’s supposed to taste). This continues, while near the finish bringing up a light bitter hop note that is mainly overpowered by the dark mocha metal flavor. A bit sour in the end while tasting like very old style yeast. Definitely an interesting one (meaning, I’m not sure what to think). An English friend of mine tells me this stuff is excellent, but I don’t really see why. The head is frothy mocha in color leaving a fair amount of lacing down the glass. Mild aroma of burnt malts, roasted coffee beans, molasses and toffee. It seems to taste a bit like a roasted coffee with molasses as the sweetener. limalimamoli (52), Oceanside, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 6, 2006 Slight fruitiness and medium malt aroma. No hop aroma. Light malt flavor, no hop bitterness, similar to a light brwon porter, great session beer probably made from very pale british malts as biscut. danimal34 (41), Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan, USA

The appearance is dark brown with a bit of red in it. The head is rather small. The flavor has coffee, medicinal bitterness, burnt malt, soy sauce, and brown sugar. The palate is much thinner than expected. Overall I find this disappointing and a real flavor jumble. muenster (339), Sevierville, Tennessee, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 28, 2006 Bottle. Pours dark brown with a thin brown head. Aroma is flat malts, and something that reminds me of a box factory. The flavor is mild caramel and a little bit of smokiness. I could understand why someone would drink this while eating fish and chips, but on it’s own, it isn’t something I would drink again. demitriustown (693), Shelby Township, Michigan, USA
