500ml. Pours a deep ebony with a pleasantly bubble tan head that falls to naught. Plenty of grass and carb on the nose, but not so much carb visible in the body. There sure is fizz on the attack, though; CO2 is most of what I taste, along with some salty grass and a pinch of dark malt. Maybe some acidulated in there? Kind of metallic-y. Some roast, some nut. I could see drinking this on a winter day with a roaring fire and some hot beef stew, but tomorrow I’ll probably forget forever that I ever had this beer.

Very dissappointing. Aroma is dominated by soy sauce, mild wheat perhaps, little else. Strong twang in the mouth, quite a bite on something that is supposed to be mild. Extremely thin body (I know, it’s british, but too much so). Tastes kinda skunky, maybe even infected. I guess there is a slight roasty flavor, but any good mildness is overwrought by twang.

Bottle. Dark brown colour with a big beige head. Dusty malty, smoked, licorice aroma and taste. Medium body with a dry finish.

(Bottle 50 cl) Clear, reddish brown with a creamy, off-white head. Somewhat unclean malt aroma. Light body with accents of roasted malt and a whiff of smoke. Also notes of vitamins and minerals before a dry finish. 150906

Very excellent brew. Move the watery taste to a little more flavor and slightly more body for a better brew. Very similar to Orkney’s Dragonhead stout. Smooth with clear decadent chocolate tones. Great!

Poured nice deep brown with a fair tan head that flattened quickly to spotty bits of foam. Aroma of roasted malts. Thinnish mouth feel. Roasted malt flavor dominates in an unbalanced way with a bit of medicinal and metalic finish.

bottle. Pours dark, dark ruby with no head. Musty, weak aroma of faint toast. Mild, acidic hops in the flavor with wimpy malts. Boring English brewing at a low point. This is very watery, thin, and remarkably dull, well, for an ale of this color anyway. I suppose that’s what a mild ale is all about though. I’ll be avoiding any further mild ales if that’s the case.
