Molasses brown, almost black. White head that sits low and loamy. Slightly viscuous beer snot. Caramel in the nose, confectioner’s sugar and a tiny hint o molasses. Excessively sweet in the nose. No hops at all in the aroma. Upon first sip it seems like nothing is in your mouth. Water maybe, but this beer is light and airy and then flattens out on your tongue. Coffee grounds surface first. Slight seltzer water flavor. Rusty nail bitterness and the dry sweetnes of roasted malts. All of the flavors sit on the back, not the front of the tongue. Hops surface now. Excellent bitter finish. Rusty metals and bitter hops linger in the fniish. Decent beer. Never really had a mild before. Hawksfan17 (717), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Dark mild; chocolate and burnt malt flavours dominate with a hoppy finish. A lovely drinking mild. A quality example of this type of beer which generally undeservably receives a bad press . The flavor is slightly sour and fruity with a bit of toasty malt. All flavors fairly muted. Just a hint of hops at the end as well. Not a whole lot going on, but it’s pretty to look at :) imdownthepub (5123), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 31, 2005 Bottled, pasteurised, 500ml. Brown to red beer with off white head. Very suprised that this beer gets away with the pasteurisation. The cask mild is a classic but this is not too far behind, plenty of fruit added to the dark roasted bitter flavours. Quite enjoyable for a low ABV bottle. oldrtybastrd (1801), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA
