| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Oct 27, 2004 Bottle: Aroma seems a little malty with some chocolate. Pours a dark reddish brown. Very watery and bland flavor. Just not a whole lot going on here. Light coffee finish is virtually all the taste this beer has to offer and it’s not all that much. Some extremely light bitterness in the finish. Incredibly boring beer. Frank (1066), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 18, 2004 Pours a dark brown amber, almost black... almost. Head is big and bubbly but it wanes to a small ring leaving behind patches of lace. Nose is malty with notes of molasses, honey and cocoa. Big full mouthfeel with very subdued and very Brittish carbonation--it doesn’t seem like a low alcohol brew, which is something I can appreciate. A small bit of tartness comes out as the pint warms in my hand and a thicker cocoa presence develops. Very quaffable. Dextolen (151), Michigan, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 16, 2004 Bottle. The logo looks much more ’professional’ now, for what ever that’s worth. Pours a dark, almost black opaque. Thin head that goes down pretty quickly, nice lacing however. Smells of coffee and chocolate. Nice, full mouthfeel, very creamy in that respect. Flavor is all coffee or chocolate, and is muc more mild than the beer appears it will taste. It’s a good beer, though and I’m pleased with it. Goblincat (356), Westland, Michigan, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 15, 2004 Pours dark with a hint of red with pretty much no head. Thin aroma of coffee and malt. Thin, bitter chocolate taste... Bitter sweet finish. So so overall. pantani (1896), Salinas, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 7, 2004 Aroma is like a mild, and a smoked combined, very roasty, with bitter chocolate. Thin off white head, and dark body. Very chocolaty, somewhat watery, but not bad. Refreshing, a good mild, I need to try more of these. Cornfield (4926), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 4, 2004 It poured a dark brown color with a slight reddish tint. The brief lived head was brown and of moderate size, then reduced itself to a halo around the glass. The aroma is of burnt sweet chocolate malt. It’s somewhat watery to drink, but the roast chocolate flavor comes through, albeit with slightly sour undertones. An interesting drink. Syd (893), Waconia, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 25, 2004 Bottle pours a dark, almost black, amber color with a one inch head that diminishes to a lace ring. The aroma is sweet and mild. The flavor is faint chocolate, almost lactic like a sweet stout, and just very subtle. The palate is smooth and refreshing. Overall, this is real good after mowing the lawn. jeffc666 (1889), Fairfax, Virginia, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Aug 10, 2004 Very dark brown with ruby highlights. The tan head is very large and rocky. The aroma is medium sweet cardboardy malt. Not much else, though it is a mild. The flavor is very grainy with a chocolate malt backing. Mild is the word, may alos one-dimensional. Not a style that I am real familiar with, however it just seems kind of there. Also seems to be the very definition of a session beer. On a site of big beer lovers this one ois bound to not fair well, the fact that is probably not even that good for its style certainly does not help things.
