Dark brown appearance with a thin mocha head - good lacing. Sweet, pipe tobacco like aroma with some chocolate hints. Mouthfeel is a little thin. Flavor has some bittersweet chocolate notes and a smoky, roasted back end to it. Overall, a decent ale, would be good for session purposes.

Nice aroma of cocoa and ale, but it kinda goes downhill from there. Distinct coffee & roasty flavors, mild bitter chocolate, very dry. Good bottle, OK label, dark clear porter-looking beer. A little bit sweet, but mostly acidic in the finish. Aftertaste is coffee. Light, thinnish body. Fairly clean, but needs som ooomph.

This looks better than it tastes. Something's missing here. Thin with not much flavor. Considering the color, I would expect something from the roasted malts, but it isn't here.

Dark ruby color with an off-white head. Body was thin, but not for a 3.4% beer. Lots of roastiness and malt flavor, a pretty decent Mild.

Smells like a Tootsie Roll - a little burnt too, deep dark brown but clear color, tan head. Thin malt body (typical British body) with a slow start. Then a burst into roasted malt leaving a dryness in the corners of the mouth. Too thin - almost watery with a roasted taste.

Bottled. Dark pour belies a strangely sugary taste. Then a rather out-of-character smokiness pops in, almost like the smoked cheese taste of an Aecht rauchbier.

Nearly black with some hints of red, no head. Malt, roasted coffee, toffee nose. Overroasted taste, licorice, but thin. Something is missing and it is kind of flat.

One of the better lower-alcohol beers I've had in a while. Dark brown, nice puffy head that faded. Nose is roasty, plenty of malts. Surprisingly aggressive roasty character, lots of chocolate and a bit of coffee bitterness. Bit thin in both the flavor and the palate, but still pretty enjoyable stuff.
