Pours a very dark brown with ruby highlights and thin tan head. Aroma is light coffee notes coupled with a toasty tannic quality. Flavor is very roasty but old and semi-metallic. Moderately thin body with medium carbonation. Kinda boring actually.

Bottled, Booths, Windermere. Ruby Red to black in appearance, this a superb example of an English Mild. Nice peaty taste in the back of the throat, giving more than a hint of malt whisky, which becomes quite dominant towards the end, which I’ve never noticed before in the cask version. Low on aroma, but a faint smokiness comes through and, as it warms up, there is a port-like flavour apparent. Quite excellent.

Two Moorhouse beers tried on the same night and this way by far the better of the two...from Asda, pours a lovely dark black with a slight reddish tinge, toffee flavour leading onto burnt malts, fine long finish...one to try again

500 mL bottled shared by Alraomon. Thanks! Pours a very dark chocolate color, appearing black in the glass with a strangely light off color head. aroma of dark fruits and caramel. Taste is dark fruits and slightly roasted malts. Very subtle hop note. Full bodied.

Bottle @ Thorups Ølkælder, Århus.
Pours black with brownish sides, a good, creamy, beige head on top. Sweet aroma, light toffee, some coconut, chocolate. A bit light and slightly watery palate. Pretty fine flavours, roasted, lots of liquorice and some rye bread. Fine, long aftertaste.
