Terrific example of a dark mild. Great roasty taste and appropriate hop level. Very drinkable session beer.

Bottle: Pour is black and oily with virtually no head. The aroma is malt and a hint of chocolate. The taste is a delicious and refreshing bitter malt. Outstanding flavor with no offensive aftertaste. Just great.

A nice darker beer that left an interesting smoked taste in my mouth. Kind of a blend of coffee and smoked foods. I must admit I missed the chocolate in it.

This is a very good mild poter that tastes very similar to Samuel Smiths Taddy Porter, though not as complex and full-bodied. Smells like an oatmeal stout and pours with an exceptional whitish brown frothy head full of small bubbles. Moderate lacing. Smooth and lightly carbonated. Deep black as the name would suggest emphasizes the british chocolate malt used. Could be a little more full-bodied, but very tasty and quite refreshing. Might be a little more tasty with a little extra hop flavor. Very little alcohol makes it extremely drinkable. I am not going to kill this beer due to the fact that it might be a little weak and watered down. I believe this was the intent of the brewmaster and he was able to meet his overall goal.
