Bottle from Party Source. Poured hazy amber brown color with medium white frothy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Medium roasted malt aroma with a hop tone. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy flavor of roasted malt with a medium sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Good interesting brew.

7/08/2009: Moorhouse English Owd Ale has a dense honey-amber color. Is aroma contains some caramel malt, cooked pear, and seems slightly oxidized. This beer is bittersweet. It is more caramelized than the Blond Bitch along with a bit more body and sweetness. The fruity and doughy qualities of the Marris Otter malt are quite evident. It has a mild bitterness with an earthy and herbal hop flavor in the finish. This medium-bodied brew is a tad chewy, but more than easy to drink!

1 pint 0.9 fl. oz. bottle (Alc by Vol 4.5%) shared by Tmoney99. Thanks Tom! Rating #3 for this beer.

Pours murky, muddy brown into the glass with no head nor lace. The nose is of big caramel malts with some nut-like contingencies. The flavors are of toasted malt upfront, with some almond skins introduced mid-palate. The back- and side-palates have some fruity esters, and the finish closes on a toasted note. Pretty linear and progressive, this brew is put together well, with a medium-light, slick mouthfeel (reminiscent of chewing on pure almond or walnut skins...) and light, not necessarily soft, carbonation. Gets better as it warms, it’s a nice offering. Not sure if I’d classify it as an ESA, but still a good brew for a nightcap.

A delightfully malty mid brown ale, beautifully conditioned, very fresh and flavorful. Some nutty grainy notes. A real keeper. For the US market only; there is no counterpart that they sell in England.
