darkish copper color that was balanced well so that both malt and hops could be tasted. aroma was not real stong, but I dark it after sampling a barley wine. I quite liked it though. pretty decent ale. resembles a bitter more than an english strong.
3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Rune (6120) - Tromsø, NORWAY - OCT 13, 2006
Half pint on gravity at The Ipswich Beer Festival. Amber-brown in colour. Low foamy layer. Complex brew with well balanced juicy and dried fruit. Moderate bitter finish. Almost full bodied. Extra score for the name (21.09.2006).
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Svesse (5196) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - JUN 7, 2006
(Cask at Oliver Twist, Stockholm) Colour is amber, with a dense off-white head, staying for quite a while. Nose is fruity and sweet (almost honey scented) with apricots, oranges and mandarin. Hints of sewage as well. Taste is fruity with grapefruit and caramel, rather sweet. Ends with a long bitter finish, filled with dusty, flowery hops. Malty, full body. Surprisingly sweet, but I can’t resist the lovely hoppy finish. Refreshing.

Nov, 2010 JDW Autumn Fest 2010. Smooth body - full of soft ripeness. Robust and delicious. I enjoy a good ale. [3.8]
July, 2011 JDW, Rochester. Pale yellow. Easy drinking. Laid back sherbet lemon flavour with some dusty flower pollen bitterness. OK stuff - not sure why it’s 5.1% as the body and mouthfeel are quite light. [3.0]

Cask (gravity dispense) at White Cliffs Festival 2006. Golden colour. Paler than I expected. Quite fruity, with plenty of dusty hops and just a touch caramel accented malt. Very clean and fresh, with some body. All in quite good balance. No doubt this is a well made beer but it didn’t leave that much of an impression on me. Perhaps just too middle of the road in all departments.

Cask Conditioned at The Cock & Bottle, Skipton, Yorks. Deep orange amber beer with big bubbly head. Big smoothy of a beer, tight sparkler and swan neck dispense bashed it into a creamy malt beer with little bitterness. I asked for removal of the sparkler and got an "eeh oop cant be doin that" tsk Northerners!

I urge you all to go and sit in the Pendle Witch pub in Atherton (sandwiched between Wigan and Bolton) owned by Moorhouses. Sup away with your eyes shut and you could be forgiven for thinking you were actually in heaven. I recommend you go to this pub for their beer bash (which is held over the same weekend as the CAMRA Bent and Bongs Beer Bash held in Athertons Formby Hall which starts on the last Thursday of January). Enjoy!
