3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
During my visits to Belgium I enjoyed this as a good day-to-day beer, with meals or as a refresher. However it was not easy to find and Moortgat never seemed to give it any publicity. I understood that they abandoned it in 2004 and another brewery was looking to make a different beer with the same name. Looking at the Moortgat website today (Sept 05) there is no mention of it and no result from the site search engine. I am sorry that Moortgat never gave this beer a fighting chance as I consider it far superior to their Vedett.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled 25cl (BBE qq/2006)
Hazy golden, small white head. Sweetish, fruity nose (apricot). But flavor is not sweet: this is dry, woody with flavor of oat. Maltry aftertaste. Quite original and different blond ale.

Warm blond beer with fine creamy foam. Quit dry maltyness with soft fruity hints. Taste is a bit like sweet pils with a nutty and light fruity caracter. Faint bitterness in the finish.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: JUN 10, 2005 (Bottle 25 cl) It’s not often there’s news from Moortgart, who seems to be busy producing their famous brands Duvel and Maredsous. But Passendale (which I believe is also the name of a nearby battlefield from WW1) came a few years ago. Amber colour, slightly hazy with a definite head. Nice and quite typical nutty ale-aroma. Pleasant but not spectacular. 280204

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draught at Alumen Bar, Copenhagen. Very fresh and ’fruity’ aroma. Great golden body with nice, longlasting off-white head. Excellent flavor with a touch of wheat, fruit. Just a bit bitter. Overall a great blond!

1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Plain and uninspiring beer. Slight oxidation with a bit of grass. Mild sweetness and a very thin mouthfeel. Cardboard and hay finish. BORING
