beachbum25 (583), Powellville, Maryland, USA Jul 20, 2008 500 ML bottle-Clear copper color w/a slight tan head. Roasted malt aroma. Thin, watery roasted malt flavor w/some nuts, rye, caramel, & bread dough. Mouthfeel was very thin, tasted like a watered down Alt. This needed some more punch to it & some bitterness on the finish. Don’t know if this is just how these beers are as it’s my first Keller, but I wasn’t impressed. Suttree (2267), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jul 12, 2008 Reddish copper, thinnish beige head. Toasty, rye-ish slightly vegetal aroma. Clean anc drisp, with a sweet and smoky notes. Maybe some winey or pumpernickel bread notes, as well. Not bad. pforei (317), USA Jul 5, 2008 Bottle. Dark copper color moderate head. Caramel and bready lager aroma. Some spice/peppery hops upon taste and finish. Thin and soft mouthfeeel. esjaygee (687), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Jun 7, 2008 Amber with medium slowly diminishing white head. Aroma is very vegetal along with tortilla chips and mild sweet malts. Taste is vegetal as well with some mild sweet malt and light apple mixed in. Finish is dry and astringent with some brunt hop characteristics. My first beer of this type, not really sure what to expect. It’s okay, but I won’t rush out to get another in this category. Schroppfy (1724), Ohio, USA May 10, 2008 I like the flavors a good bit, but it could be fresher and damnit isn’t a Kellerbier unfiltered? Where’s the beef? Kind of flowery, kind of skunky aroma. Malty, a bit of stale toffee and compost heap, a fine dose of flowers and pencil shavings, with a little 9 volt zing, but really where is the complexity, depth and mouthfeel of the best kellerbier? Not in a bottle I suppose, but I must do a tour in Germany, that’s for sure.
