AirForceHops (3144) - Epping, New Hampshire, USA - DEC 31, 2010
500 ml bottle. Deep caramel with slightly lighter hues around the edges, can’t see through, long lasting thick white head. Head shrank to a thin layer which left larger bubbles of lacing. Noticeable floating sediment-yeast. Aroma of light bubble gum (reminds me of $.05 bubble gum from the corner store). As it gets warmer, aroma of light clove is apparent. At the forefront is molasses with a light banana clove hiding in the background. This mouthfeel is a bit thin however, it gives you the ability to drink a lot of it if you choose. For me it is a middle – of – the –road Dunkelweizen but… still good. Drank on New Year’s Eve with LiteWait.

As it gets warmer, aroma of light clove is apparent. Overall, the palate is of molasses. It reminds me of a warm molasses cookie. This is my first Dunkelweizen I’ve experienced and it’s one that I would drink again! A+

BeerHawk (1810) - Huntsville, Alabama, USA - DEC 19, 2010
Bottle best by 12/10. Poured brown with a tall light tan head that had a thin layer last. Aroma of yeast and grain. The flavor found grain and subdue malts. Light body.

marcus (6441) - Sacramento, California, USA - DEC 5, 2010
Bottle from Monument Wine. As soon as the top was flipped there was a gusher. Once subsided, the beer poured brownish amber with a massive beige head that subsided rather quickly. There is a smoked malt flavor with a little yeasty banana. Not very impressive.

Thanks to Turdlington for the tick. So I reckon this used to be known as the "Schwarz Weisse," and if ever a name let you know a beer couldn’t decide about itself . . . Decent nose but thin as fuck, one-dimensional malts. Watery. Next!

McGarnigle (551) - Rochester, New York, USA - SEP 11, 2010
Ceramic flip top. My label says Schwarze Weisse, drink by Dec 10. Pours cola/tea colored, hazy when the yeast is poured in. Great head. Carbonation is a bit high and interferes with the taste. Not a ton of flavor: slight banana and spice, estery, fruity, maybe some bread crust. Dunkelweizens are tough to brew.

Fevernova (210) - Athens, Ohio, USA - SEP 2, 2010
500mL Bottle -- Pours cola brown with a small off-white head. Aromas of tea, lemonade, orange, roasted malt, caramel, and yeast. Some tartness, very refreshing. A delicious beer.
