3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Flip top bottle. Large frothy, fizzy ivory hue head that mostly diminished, poor lacing, carbonation, hazy, and a reddish brown hue. Smokey, fruity, clove, and spicy nose. Nicely done. Ditto for the flavor. Smooth mouthfeel and light-medium body.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
500ml bottle labelled as Schwarze Weisse pours a light brown color with a finger of white head that leaves little lacing on the glass. Aroma is dark fruits with some caramel and light roasted notes. Taste is dark fruits with a caramel malty sweetness and a herbal hop bitterness with some light smoke. Light to medium body with little carbonation. A decent dunkel that was somewhat tasty, but there are better ones out there.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Distinct molasses and yeasty aroma, fading into that bittersweet/musky dunkelweiss thing. Colored like rootbeer candy - greybrown, with a frothy head. Good swingtop bottle. Malty, wheaty, molasses notes. Not very bitter, a bit herbal - horehound/Riccola flavors, moderately sweet. Medium to medium-light body. Overall fair, but not worth swerving into oncoming traffic to pick up off the road.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Thanks to Turdlington for the tick. So I reckon this used to be known as the "Schwarz Weisse," and if ever a name let you know a beer couldn’t decide about itself . . . Decent nose but thin as fuck, one-dimensional malts. Watery. Next!

Swingtop bottle labelled Schwarze Weisse. Clear brown body with a large frothy tan head. Sweet banana and spice aroma. Light banana flavor, somewhat nutty with a bit of yeastiness. Body is a bit too thin for my liking however.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Dark brown-amber, the aroma is of wheat, fruit, and faintly yeasty. The taste is dark fruit and wheat grain. Difficult to pour due to the yeast, this was worth it, a very good weissbier.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: JUL 8, 2007 clear reddish amber with a medium sized fizzy off-white head. sweet tropical fruit, candy, banana aroma. very carbonated. big banana flavor but not a lot of chocolaty dark malts. hints of brown sugar. if i wouldn’t have looked at it, i would have called it a regular hefeweizen.
re-rate: pours a nice brown with a large creamy light tan head. very sweet sugary aroma of milk duds and toffee and a hint of metallic. flavor is quite tangy/sour with notes of caramel and milk chocolate. also some metallic. VERY different since i tasted it a year ago. in fact this is completely different(so was the lager hell). must have made some big changes at the brewery. tastes more like a dunkel but still has some problems. appearance changed from 3 to 4.
