2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Aroma is of a spiced dark earthy bread, like a pumpernickel, and palate is sparkly and fizzy. Spicy notes are long lasting, but beer is thin and watery. Flavor does not hold up either. Certainly does not taste like wheat. Kind of icky, should not have bought it, but the bottle is cool. Might make a bong later with it.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Tried this under the Schwarze Weisse moniker used in the US. Also, it lists ingredients as water, barley, hops and yeast, which is a mistake. It says "dark wheat beer," under the name. Just something I noticed. No big deal.
Pretty clear brown in appearance w/ a foamy white head that leaves soapy chunks of lace on the side of the glass. Nose is mild w/ bananas and a little bit of bready malt. Carbonation is overly vigorous which has a tendency to kill whatever flavors is here which, from what I can tell, is mostly just a hint of clove spiciness. (On the upside, this would be a great beer to have before a belching contest w/ your little brother.) This is a really ham fisted rendition of the syle in my opinion.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle. Pours a rich, dark brown with a nice head and lacing. Aroma is coppery banana. Taste is hollow clove. Not much body in the mouthfeel. Like chewing a cheap piece of watered-down clove bubblegum, but without the mouth-numbing effect.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
It probably isn’t fair to rate this beer as it turned out to be very old, but I have nothing else to go on. HUGE carbonation, has a tinge of sourness mixed with pay-doh in the flavor. Drain pour.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
From the ceramic-lidded swing top bottle, consumed right after the Weiss. this poured with a less-pronounced head, looking more like a regular dunkel bier than dunkelweiss. The aroma, too, is much more malty than yeasty ... with a big sweet cookieness to it. Likewise the flavor was like a sweet Girl Scout treat ... very sugary. Light and slippery, this was closer to a homebrewed soda than a dunkelweiss. (#2727, 2/25/2007)

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Not very good for one of my favorite styles. Aroma has light wheat and some chemicals. Flavor is a sour, too sour for the style. There is wheat in there as well, but no fruit or spices common to the style. There is a lot of yeast and the color is right. This beer was probably off.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
0.5l, Schwarze Weisse version, bb Jun 08. Nearly opaque red-brown with a medium and lasting, sticky head. Aroma is metallic caramel malt. Flavor is toasted bitter nut, sour caramel, bitter cocoa, sour corn, tart acidic fruit, cardboard. Light body is frothy-sloshy, watery, and astringent. What a disappointing mess.

From notes. Hazy multi brown. White carbonation. Wheat and grains with a generic chemical background. Medium body, balanced. Just bad.

1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
I was not impressed with this beer. It reminded me of a weak, watered down syrup with extra metallic flavoring added.

1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
500mL botte purchased at Total Wine and More in Sacramento. Wow, the aroma has a good whiff of phenols at first. Once you can get past this, there is a little tartness, and some mildly roasty chocolate hints. As this warms, I get some green apple acetaldehyde character, and I am scared this may be infected. This opened with a thunderous pop and poured with a massive light tan head. Moderately transparent cola-colored body. Starts with a bunch of green apple acetaldehyde notes and then followed by some metallic characteristics. Light toasted malts in the middle. Thin and watery towards the finish, and just really not enjoyable at all. Extremely flawed beer.
