UPDATED: MAR 28, 2007 Bottled as Moosbacher Schwarze Weisse. Hazy deep orange pour, thin white head. Lackluster wheat aroma, banana skins, stale earthiness. Flavor has an unpleasant bitter component, with crackers(triscuits), toasted malts. Finishes semi-dry, lingering. Overall unpleasant. It amazes me that the company who imports this chose this barely functional brewery as their initial offering in the U.S. market. Hehe, rookies.

Bottle as Schwarz weiss. Poured like cola, a pale brownish color and a smallish foamy head, heavy big bubbled carbonation in the glass. Aroma lightly astringent, herbal, just a touch of clove. Flavor is wheaty with some banana. Fizzy. Unimpressive.

Clear brown color/ fleeting head. Mild roasty malt aroma. light body. Tart dark wheat bread, cardboard malty flavors with unripe banana. not that good.

500 mln bottle labelled Moosbacher Schwarze Weisse. Muddy brown with big, soft head. No lacing. Aroma of vinegar, yeast and earth. Easy to drink but average tasting.

Cloudy wood brown with a soft, off-white head. Caramel, dark sour fruit aroma. Taste is a tangy/sweet dull caramel. Grows more sour and leafy bitter as it goes. Not enjoyable.

Aroma is of a spiced dark earthy bread, like a pumpernickel, and palate is sparkly and fizzy. Spicy notes are long lasting, but beer is thin and watery. Flavor does not hold up either. Certainly does not taste like wheat. Kind of icky, should not have bought it, but the bottle is cool. Might make a bong later with it.

Tried this under the Schwarze Weisse moniker used in the US. Also, it lists ingredients as water, barley, hops and yeast, which is a mistake. It says "dark wheat beer," under the name. Just something I noticed. No big deal.

Pretty clear brown in appearance w/ a foamy white head that leaves soapy chunks of lace on the side of the glass. Nose is mild w/ bananas and a little bit of bready malt. Carbonation is overly vigorous which has a tendency to kill whatever flavors is here which, from what I can tell, is mostly just a hint of clove spiciness. (On the upside, this would be a great beer to have before a belching contest w/ your little brother.) This is a really ham fisted rendition of the syle in my opinion.

Poured from 1/2 liter bottle. I smell malt, apple and vinegar. Murky brown with tan head. Tastes like malty apple cider. Vinegar aftertaste - might be old. Reminds me of a cheap malt beverage. Not good.

Bottle. Pours a rich, dark brown with a nice head and lacing. Aroma is coppery banana. Taste is hollow clove. Not much body in the mouthfeel. Like chewing a cheap piece of watered-down clove bubblegum, but without the mouth-numbing effect.
