I remember Moosehead as having a skunked aroma, but often tasting OK. But also rarely being skunked. This was our "get drunk" beer when it was on sale and we were playing touch football in college. Now, well, there’s not lot to it. Some malt aroma - just some - a tiny bit of bitterness, a kind of less-than-pleasant malt sweet / off-bitter aftertaste. Not a lot there. Lager version? Not much of a difference from "regular" Moosehead. Eh, nice try.

12 oz green bottle. Fresh sample just unpacked from master case, so it has had no time to get light struck.
Clear light yellow, fluffy white head over tons of forced carbonation. Bready malt aroma with some mild grain and faint grassy hops.
Flavor is sweet doughy malt with a mild pepper back. Not much to it. At least it’s not skunky like I remember. I can’t believe I used to drink so much of this in the 80s.

I drank so much of this beer this summer it was scary, for some reason this was my neboiurs beer of choice while building our fence together. It went like this work for 30min. have a beer, work for 15min have a beer, work for 5 min have a beer, stop working entirely and drink lots of beer and then gin got involved somehow. Anyway I stole one to do a review. Normal clear gold body with your standard white film floating on top. Aroma seems very sweet with lots of apple, metallic hops and mild skunk. The heavy carbonation stings as it sits on your tung making this beer seem dry. Taste is biscuity with skunky hops and mild spicy notes. Brew actually better then I remembered it being from way back in the day but not as good as it seemed when you’re just mindlessly drinking it on a hot summers day. Meh better than most macro’s

Drinking this didn’t make me a Moosehead man for life. But it didn’t make me that fussy either. Not too bad. Not great. Serving: Bottle
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Papillon (280) - Sudbury, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 21, 2010
341 mL Bottle. Clear yellow body with a small white head dissipating to a ring with spotty lace. Aroma of light malts with notes of cereal and corn and a pungent hop expression. There is a crispness to the flavor; light malts with some sweet corn, grassy hops, soda biscuit aftertaste and a grassy-citrusy finish, pleasantly refreshing in its own way.

Bottle. Clear golden pour with a rocky white head that lasts a while. Aroma is surprisingly bold with lots of caramel malt and grassy hops. Flavour is very similar but weaker and with a hint of cardboard. Mouthfeel is thin and watery with moderate carbonation and a short, mildly bitter finish. As far as macro lagers go this isn’t too bad, but it’s still pretty unexciting.

Pale yellow with a thin white head. Corn aroma. Corny malts finishes dry with trace hops and metallic notes.
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 arminjewell (2444) - Parker, Colorado, USA - SEP 7, 2010
Pours golden with white head. Aroma is some grassy hops, biscuity malt, earth. Taste is a touch of hops including grass and earth, leading into sweet malt that finishes clean. As far as American macro lagers go, not bad.
