Skunked, skunked, skunked. Did I mention it was skunked? Man, this beer has fallen big time. It used to be a premium lager, now it's just pig-swill. It poured out ok enough, with a darker shade of pale yellow, almost a golden color, with a short-lived white head. It smelled strongly of cheesy hops, over the hill malts, and rotten corn. Literally stinks from being skunked so badly. I'm glad I quit drinking this beer regularly years ago, because it's just plain awful nowadays. I guess you can't go home again.

12oz bottle. Thin white head, fades to minimal. Little loose lace. Totally clear darker yellow color. Moderate carbonation. More dry texture. Just a skunky aroma, maybe some bread -- the fact that it’s watered down helps it. Decent savory taste, nothing offensive about that, reasonably drinkable. Overall, as far as lagers go, this isn’t awful, and moderately drinkable. Probably close to yuengling level. A deeper flavor for a lager, you know?

Welp it’s not corny or dusty as these macrolagers can often be -- it does have a fresh taste -- but the taste is rather slight. That’s just the way these things are, though. I admit when at the grocery store, I buy No Name brands instead of luxury for a lot of products... the added bonus just isn’t worth the price for me. Buying good beer is a gift for myself. If you prefer to buy this over craft because it’s cheap, more power to you, everyone has different priorities.

Regular lager but with a distinctly Eastern European feel to the brewing process.

341ml bottle pours a pale straw color with a finger of white head that leaves only a few specks on the glass. Aromas are typical of macro lager with the light malts and hops. Taste is also undesirable with light malt sweetness and grassy hop bitterness. The finish is cleaner than other macro lagers, but still not a good beer.

This is probably my favorite of the bad beers. Pours a pale yellow with a fizzy head. The aroma is typical of the massed produced garbage they sell to the non-geeks. The flavor stinks. How does a flavor stink you ask? Try this beer and then tell me.

BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 17, 2012
This green 350ml bottle has a date of 6th May 2009 on its shoulder, it was drank and reviewed on a cold but dry November Saturday in 2008: in my lounge in Shropshire, England. I poured it into one of my Duvel glasses and stared at it for a while. All the little bubbles that fixed themselves to the side of the glass began to break away and rise to the white head above. I was left with a golden, clear brew with no pin-head sized bubbles on the glass. Interesting, but not enough to stop me smelling and tasting the beer. The aroma wasn’t to great, in fact there was very little to pick up at all, some malts and grain if I’m being kind, otherwise ’nowt’. So my bog standard score of 3 for lager/pilsners is awarded. The taste isn’t strong enough, I expect a malt lager to taste of malt, this almost made it, but failed. Not enough ’umph’ for me I’m afraid. Just a boring lager which has travelled a long way to be slagged off by a Brit. Mouthfeel and drinkability effected by the non-taste and general blandness of the product.

I have a bit of a soft spot for this one. I find it light and crisp and very easy to drink. It doesn’t have the slight sourness that a lot of the lagers have.

Bottle. Poured clear yellow with a small white head that dissipated fast. Aroma of grains and some sweetness. Flavor also sweet, with grain as the dominant note. Watery, Finished clean with minimal aftertaste.
