Commercial Description:
A traditional German-style amber ale, this beer was brewed in the days before pale lagers became popular. It is medium-bodied, with a dry, crisp malt finish and plenty of German Spalter Hops.

Sample at the brewpub. Clear dark maple, malty caramel-honey nose. Odd texture, at first watery but full late; chocolate and a bit of licorice, toasted malts, some assertive bitterness mid-palate, smoother in the finish though still with a bite.

Orange/brown color with a smallish light tan head. Pale and caramel malt aroma, with a mild noble hops nose. Nutty sweetness. Light bitterness balances the sweetness mid quaff, but becomes quite harsh in the finish.
