This is a foreign export style stout infused with Sumatra coffee. The base beer for this is not an overly roasty, heavy, or bitter stout in order to let the delicate flavors of coffee shine through. I got the idea for this because my assistant Mike just loves iced coffees in the summer so how can you improve on a iced coffee?; add beer!

On draught at the Moosejaw brewpub in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. Pours a clear dark cola brown colored stout with a creamy beige head that has some excellent retention and lacing. Aroma of toasted dark malt, dark chocolate and a hint of coffee. Taste has more coffee presence than in aroma. Medium bodied, soft carbonation with a typical stout profile with coffee. Finish has a tart coffee with Baker’s chocolate aftertaste. Best described as an ice coffee infused American stout.

Smooth body. Tastes like a good cup of strong coffee. Its one of my favorites on a weekend in the summer.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a very dark brown with a nice dark head. Smells great malt and coffee. Can taste the coffee and has just a hint of hoppy aftertaste. Very good stout.
