COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In 1842, the first hop farms appeared in Sauk County. The heart of the hops boom was in Kilbourn City (now Wisconsin Dells). This medium-bodied amber ale has a pleasant hoppy flavor & aroma. Locally grown hops are harvested from Brownie Zinke’s Hop Farm & are used to create this one-of-a-kind ale.

On-tap @ the Brewpub. Amber color. The fresh hop aroma you get right off the bat is great, and I was told all the hops used are locally grown...nice. A solid use of caramel malts, but the hops take over from there and lead to a great, smooth brew that is certainly hop-driven. I asked the bartender if there were any plans to bottle their beers in the near future, and he actually said they are planning to bottle the Kilbourn Hop Ale soon. Assuming that’s done, it’ll start very local for sure, but it’d be nice to see this one out in stores for more people to try. Overall impression..this is a very good, hoppy pale ale. You can’t stop at this place and not try this one.

Amber ale in name only - it’s an American pale ale with a dash of caramel malt for color. Hop-forward with notes of juniper and a touch of flowers. A bit watery but tasty, sessionable.

On tap at restaurant and brewery, pours a clear dark amber orange with a creamy white head and quite a bit of lacing, the aroma has a decent amount of hops and citrus that come through with a malt backing, the flavor has a nice citrus and fruit hop at first with a caramel and malt finish, well balanced, actually pretty good stuff.

10 Pointer Sampler 6/25/14 (Moosejaw)-Pours amber with a small head. Aroma of hops, malt, and citrus. Taste of the same with more hops. This medium bodied brew is well balanced and one of the better one so far.

S nice hoppy beer. Strong vegetal hop presence. Weeds. Not much of a malt backbone. This one is all about the hops

A smooth ale with a good amount of hops. Leaves the pallet thriving for more. A definite recommended ale.

Reviewed from notes. Consumed last summer as my family and I were driving through the Dells. At the brewpub. Into a pint glass. The appearance has a hazy pale orange /brown body with a film of a white head that gently dies leaving some nice clingy lacing in rings. The smell has the hops up front strong all the way unto the end of the drink, light malts as it warms. The taste is balanced pretty well through the hops and the malts. On the palate, she sits about a medium on the body, is slightly sessionable, and has a carbonation that seems to be spot on for the style and for me. Overall, what a nice APA, if youre in the Dells and are lookin’ for a nice APA don’t pass up on this, I definitely would have it again.
