COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is an American-style stout. The smell of oak, coffee & roasted barley dominate the aroma of this full body opaque black ale. The flavor of roasted coffee beans & dark bittersweet chocolate are accompanied by a medium malty sweetness & rich caramel flavors. It has a strong hop backbone of 51 IBU’s. After fermentation it was aged on American White Oak in order to extract a smooth oak finish.

Skyview (5109) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - DEC 27, 2009
On draught at the Moosejaw brewpub in Wisconsin Dells, WI. Pours an opaque dark brown (not black) colored stout with a creamy tan head that has nice retention and lots of lacing. Aroma of mostly toasted dark malts, coffee with some mocha and a hint of vanilla. Taste is medium to full bodied, flavors of toasted dark malt, coffee some grassy and floral hops and a hint of vanilla. Finish is semi-dry with some mild bitterness and coffee aftertaste. For the oak-aged there is some vanilla in the aroma but the extra hop profile hides the oak-aged flavor and character.
