2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cask handpull at Thomas Ingoldsby, JDW, Canterbury. Deep gold, thin beige head. A slightly citrus hoppy bitter. It’s fine. Not much on the malts, not much aroma. Nothing wrong with it, except an absence of any real flavour.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask Conditioned at The Saye & Sele Arms, Broughton, Oxon. An amber bitter(?) with white bubbly head. This is quite sweet with a woody mild like flavour rather than a bitter, very smooth. Blackberry fruitiness, not really to my taste.

Cask, Criterion, Leicester. Copper, red with an off-white foam. Aromas are suitably earthy and leafy with toffee malts light berries and hints of aniseed. Molasses with some medicinal notes. Flavours are sweet toffee and molasses with woody, earthy hops and green leafiness. Herbal and spicy on the finish with underlying chocolate. Peppery and dry on the finish. Makes a change to all the golden ales around.
