"A fruity amber beer with more than a hint of hops. The bitterness carries on in the aftertaste. A superb session beer."

On draught. Golden colour with slightly yeasty aroma and a small head that dissipates. Some light fruit initially but not too sweet, a little malt and then a slightly watery, empty middle which is made up for somewhat by a late moderately bitter finish. Not bad but not particularly memorable.

Cask at the Nags Head, Reading. Pale amber with a ring of white head; lemon citrus aroma; fresh lemon and grapefruit bitterness with a chewy malt body; and a clean refreshing grapefruit finish. Moreish and full of flavour.

Cask at The Water House (JDW), Durham, £2.09/pint. (At 3.6%) Good-looking, golden-amber beer with a small, white head. The nose is neither here nor there, with only light, delicate floral tones detectable. The taste is pretty crisp and bitter but full of lavender, floral and soapy notes that are a little overpowering. The finish is long and dry with some biscuity malts to be found but it’s more of a hop-led pint - the issue is that the hop character isn’t all that pleasant. Malt does come into play a little later in the pint, with some interesting creamy flavours but all told it’s nothing special at all.

Cask conditioned at Fleetwood Beer Festival ’15. Gold with white head. There was a real sicky, floral note to this from the start, tartish. A real struggle to finish it unfortunately.

jamestulloch (3091) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - NOV 13, 2014
Cask at The Centurion, Newcastle. Hazy body with tiny yeast flecks floating around. Thin white head. Lacing coats the full pint glass. Aroma of biscuit and dried apricot. Flavour of bitter, earthy hops, orange pith and underripe peach. Medium body with a smooth texture. Faint carbonation prickle. A dry, simple beer. Perhaps more of a Golden Ale than a Bitter?
