maeib (3816), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England May 17, 2008 Cask conditioned - handpump - Vat & Fiddle, Nottingham. An amber coloured beer with a whitish head. The aroma is pretty heavy on the fruits with hints of toffee. The taste is really malty with more berry fruits. For all that it’s pretty tasty and quite smooth. This isn’t how I remember this beer from six or seven years ago, but it’s still nice enough.
bobinlondon (215), Harrow, Greater London, England Jul 8, 2008 Handpulled cask at Lloyds no 1 bar(JDW) St. Albans. Chestnut colour and good head with plenty of condition. Well balanced strong northern bitter. albertane (218), Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England Jun 22, 2008 Cask at the Roebuck, Nottingham. This is a copper beer with a fairly faint roast aroma. The flavour is much more powerful with lots of malt and some smokiness with a lingeringly bitter finish. Carlus12 (361), London, Greater London, England May 27, 2008 Cask @ Market Porter (Apr ’08). Copper colour with foamy white head. Aroma is toffee, dark fruits, malt. Taste is more dark fruits, bitter, nutty, hoppy. Very drinkable. berkshire_john (976), Bracknell, Berkshire, England May 16, 2008 Cask at the Monks Retreat (JDW), Reading. Cloudy copper with a creamy white head; bry and herbal to start the developing a malty orange sweetness; nutty and warming finish. Hard to see why this would be a Champion Beer.
