This deserves a better rating than it has. Not traditional in that it has a lot more hops than usual, but it only adds to the appeal. Tried at the brewery in 2014.

Taster on tap at the brewery. Clear dark red color. Thin khaki head, leaves good thicker lace. Great chocolate, nutty aroma up front. Medium-plus body, big and full for the ABV. Smooth, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Nice flavor again, like hazelnut or marzipan or something. Moderate bitter taste, light sweet. Tasty brown ale!

On tap into a shot glass. Appearance is a dark, translucent brown with a beige head. Aroma is malts and coffee. Taste follows suit. Coffee comes throughout magnificently. This is my favorite of the sampler I got while at the brewery. I would say this is their best by a good bit.

Tap at Morgantown. Pours clear brown with an average, creamy beige head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (bread, cookie, chocolate, toasted), light hops (earthy), and light esters (dried fruit) with notes of dates. Flavor is heavy malt (bread, cookie, chocolate, toasted), light hops (earthy), and light esters (dried fruit) with notes of honey. Medium body, warmth, and carbonation, low creaminess with medium sweet finish.

Reminds me of a brown ale mixed with a Guinness. A dark brown body and thin, non-lacing head builds up a weak nose...it may be because the beer is so fresh. However, the toffee, chocolate covered peanut flavor makeup for itís aroma formalities. A medium to light mouthfeel makes the beer good, but not special.

Enjoyed on tap at the brewery in a sampling glass. The beer pours a deep brown color, with a mild off-white head. Aromas of dark chocolate and subtle roasted malt to the nose. The palate is straightforward and fairly uneventful. Dark chocolate, ash, and a very slight roasty character come through. Bitterness is present, but not to such an extent that a particular variety of hop really shines through. Overall, a straightforward, if somewhat simple, English-style brown.

Draft. Chocolate malt aroma. Medium brown with small head. Light smokey chocolate toffee malt flavor. Very nice.

DraftÖ Clear, deep, dark copper ale with a mid-sized, creamy, off-white head. Fantastic retention. The restrained bouquet is quite nutty without much else going on. Medium-bodied and lightly creamy with soft carbonation. The roasty flavor leans a smidge toward the bitter side, but is smooth and well-balanced overall. A bit nutty and a touch thin. Finishes crisp and very mildly bitter. A little too crisp and refreshing for the style. Personally, I like a little meat on my brown aleís bones.

Clear brownish copper. Aroma of hazelnut, caramel, vanilla. Light bitter, light sweet. Creamy texture. Ave carbonation. Not bad. A little water down.
