Draft – MBC. Black, tan creamy head. Dark chocolate and oaken vanilla aromas ride softer waves of charred marshmallow throughout. Dry blackened choco-vanilla flavors are well balanced on a sturdy foundation of old wood and roasted s’mores. Lighter side of medium bodied, medium carbonation, bittersweet finish. Estimated ABV per the brewer is a touch over 5%. Very well crafted…

Ehh, maybe the other guy got a different batch of this brew than I did, but I was offended upon my first tasting of the "Barrel Aged Coal City." Let it be known the Coal City Stout is actually a fine dry stout, if a little on the light-medium side. (Guinness has a heavier body), however, MBC actually made their Barrel Aged even THINER than the Coal City. Needless to say, it was a forgettable drinking session. The beer actually looks good at first site, but a quick inspection resembles the contents to mirror a pint of cold coffee rather than the velvet, syrup-like body of a Barral Aged brew like New Holland’s Dragon’s Milk. The flavor didn’t have much going on, faint coffee, oak, and slight vanilla hues poked through the water based "stout" body. Easily one of the worst beers from Morgantown, and that’s not something I say very often.
