   AROMA 8/10   APPEARANCE 5/5   TASTE 8/10   PALATE 4/5   OVERALL 15/20
ClarkVV (4353) - Allston, Massachusetts, USA - AUG 24, 2015
750mL bottled December 4th, 2002 drunk 8/18/15.
If memory serves correctly, Jacob Lovenlund sent me this one a long time ago, back when I had a bad case of the "must age everythings"....well, thankfully 13 years isn’t too much for a gueuze to handle and this one stood up to the challenge. Still a good pop when I undid the cage, and the cork, which was still in the neck, but not actually wedged in just slid right out. The cage was the only thing holding the carbonation in...
Still poured a lovely deep copper, with a good white head and moderate retention.
Light sulfur in the nose is mild compared to Cantillon standards, with much, much more lime-like brett acidity, green apples and lots of horseblanket and earthiness. Really quite nice! Little, if any oxidation present, no alcohol and no flaws.
In the mouth it’s tightly carbonated, appropriately dry and full of delicious lactic and brett acids, giving a healthy but not aggressive sourness. Quite fruity, with a touch of caramel/sherry-like oxidation. Obviously has dulled a bit with time, but still comes off very noble and deliciously quenching. Light acetic notes creep in as it warms and breathes. Really impressed! Not sure if this version was brewed by F. Boon or not....better consult Joris. Maybe not quite a 4.0 beer, but you gotta give it some credit for still tasting this good after 13 years....

Na, das ist doch mal wieder ein netter Lambik. Frisch und fruchtig mit einer feinen Balance aus Säure und Süße. Etwas herb zum Schluss, etwas Getreide, etwas Essig und die Nase offenbart milde Hefen. Top.

375 ml bottle brought back from belgium. The beer is a hazy copper color with a white head of foam. The aroma has leather, dry, musty fruit, and strong acidity. The taste has more of the same, with a strong sourness and a more mild sweetness coming through. The carbonation level is pretty high ln this one. As soon as I srarted to move the cork, it shot out with a lot of force. No gushing, though. Delicious beer!

Garlic_of_Doom (571) - SWEDEN - MAY 23, 2015
Hazy pissyellow with a big white head that doesn’t retain. Aroma has green apples, some sweet/flowery note, slightly tart and yeasty. Taste is tart, dry and woody with apple peel/kernels, light malty. Medium body, high carbonation, dry. Short after taste.
I feel the taste if far too short here, it just disappears.

Moriau Geuze ’14 release Pours a glowing, golden-orange color with a huge, soon collapsing head. The whole room fills up with a tart funkiness, just after opening the bottle. Offers an incredible, intense lemon peel crispness, turning almost juicy above glue, leather and brine. Lemon gets calmed by moldy, slightly sweeter malts, while the brew remains remarkably fruity. Has a higher, tartness supporting carbonation among a medium body. Tastes right from the beginning of squeezed lemon, together with its stones, wrapped up by smooth, dusty, malts. The lemony, tart funkiness works it way down the tongue until it reaches the back end of the palate, providing a sour, fresh lemon infused peak. This gets accompanied by slightly metallic, bubbling carbonation and old candle wax, gently balanced by earth. It finishes almost smooth though, exhibiting the beers true greatness, it remains throughout pleasant, while it puts together a lot a subtle, harmonious, well balanced flavors. Offers a clean, short lasting dryness, still focusing on the lemon, revealing its stony qualities. This beer features an incredible complex and well put together Gueuze, which has just the perfect amount of sweetness to it, to balance its luscious lemon impact. It also offers an incredible pleasant, almost smooth mouthfeel, while the beer remains refreshing, due to its distinct acidic sourness.
