(37.5cl bottle best by 3-3-2029 thanks to bu11zeye) cloudy yellow with a long lasting head. Nose of charred wood, very funky, fungi, and wet barrel. Taste of lemon, nicely tart, wet wood, quite funky, tart tangerines, floral, brett, and a smooth well carbonated body. The tart linger on the palate is excellent!

Big thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this rare sour. Best by 3/3/29.
The beer pours a hazy yellow color with a white head. The aroma is awesome. I get notes of brett funk, lemons, oak and some floral qualities.
The flavor is pretty funky with some brett notes, tart lemons, oak, flowers and some lactic sourness that I don’t get in a lot of other gueuzes.
Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
Very glad I got to try this beer.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Fred82 (1759) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 24, 2010
Two 375ml bottle from a restaurant in Belgium.
Appearance : Clear yellow with big fluffy and foamy white head. Not much lacing.
Aroma : Funky and acidic with slight notes of apples. Quite barnyard.
Taste : Acidic and yeasty. Woody with notes of honey. Some mineral notes borderline blood.
Overall : This was not such a good experience. At the beginning, the beer was rather good but half into the glass, it started to be very metallic with strong notes of blood. I immediately returned the bottle and asked for a new one. Sadly, the new one tasted exactly the same. Of course the second bottle came from the same batch so I guess it’s a batch problem. Even without the blood thing, I could tell that it was not as clean as some of the better examples. My girlfriend had a 3 Fonteinen Oude Gueuze that I could use to compare and both nose and taste were far behind it. Let’s say that I forget about the blood notes, it was not a bad gueuze. Just not very clean.

Big thanks to Jeremy for sharing this one!
A-pours a very light golden orange with a thin fluffy and bubbly white head.
S-the nose is dusty and dry, very light earthy notes, a little grassy with notes of sour lemon towards the back.
T-the taste is much like the nose, dusty and papery, light earthiness with grass and hay, there is a touch of sweetness with some subtle peach and light lemon, very acidic with a light touch of sour to it.
M-medium to light body with lots of carbonation burning and prickling the back of the throat with a dry finish.
D-seems a slightly oxidized and the flavor profile doesn’t seem all there. the funk was present but the balance was lacking and it was so dry and hay like.

0.375 l bottle at Tuulensuu, Tampere. Hazy yellow color. Hazy golden color. Dry acidic, lemony and grapefruity with sulfur and herbal-bitter grapefruit pith. Enjoyable grapefruity dryness. Good gueuze, if typical.

Taste thanks to Jeremy! Hazy tan-amber, white foam head and heavy lacing. Lightly sweet yet farmy, some lemons, grass, hay, and wheat. Acrid lemon flavor, iron, stale wheat, and light grape flavors. Mediocre profile, a bit too sweet and even vegetal, then throw in the over-acetic quality. Meh
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 callmemickey (710) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 25, 2010
UPDATED: JAN 13, 2012 2009 vintage (375ml) - opened June 2010.
A: Clear golden body. Large bubbly head. Quickly receded after one swirl of the glass. Only the faintest of lacing.
S: Lemon, grass and a healthy dose of bretty must. Fairly straightforward, but inviting nonetheless.
T: The brett from the nose really trails off leaving only a slightly tart and funky gueuze. The lemon-citric acidity is still there. Just a bit cleaner that I’d like (and was expecting from the nose).
M: Light to medium bodied. Effervescent carbonation throughout. Light tartness in the finish.
O: Easy drinking and fairly refreshing. Not as complex as the best representatives of the style, but by no means would I hesitate to try again.
