375ml bottle (’Moriau Oude Geuze Vieille’) uncorking like gunshot.. Immediate fresh cheesy lemon aroma puckering with sherbet-spread cellar walls and lambic interest. Pours brilliant honey-golden into the Cantillon tumbler with a torrential effervescence and tall bleached head going nowhere. All the fresh lemony and green apple acidity suggested by the aroma; brie rind dunked in champagne, big oaky kiss of barrel. Really mellow, balanced gueuze- authentic without the lemon juice and horse that has me reaching for the Gaviscon. Glad I popped this in my trolley- had no idea what it was when I saw it. One to savour.

Pale golden pour. Thin head. The nose is intensely cheesey and funky. Loads of bright stinky funkiness, must and sweaty/salty malt. Rich and intense with enough acidity on the back to cut through the intense goaty flavour. A long lingering funkiness with a nice bretty funk. Another winning brew in what is shaping up to be an awesome tasting.

Bottled. Lovely aroma, very sour, with a kick of lemon; pure gueuze here. The palate/carbonation was perhaps a touch too lively, with a sharpness that really interrupts the enjoyment of the acidity and blocks any complexity that may be present. Reminds me a lot of Oud Beersel. A solid effort, but certainly not the best gueuze.

Bottle: Hazy golden with a dense and well retained white head. Fantastic funky aroma- cheese, cobwebby molded wood, farmhouse, leather- just rustic greatness. Fluffy body with a dry sharp funkiness in the flavor. Some mild citric/lemony qualities though it’s not very acidic but it’s got a ton of funk- leather, cobweb, tannic moldy wood. Bone dry, complex, absolutely funky- awesome!

Cloudy orange color with a fluffy head. Aroma is sweet and cheesy, mildly sour, citrus and is just great. Flavor is sweet and sour, some funk and citrus. Smooth and semi dry and just delicious.
